Title Against frivolous assurances/ Proverbs 6:1-5
Introduction
-- In case of damage under warranty
There is a saying that there is no guarantee between brothers.
So there is no benefit in the guarantee, and it is said that there are many cases of losing money and losing bedding while taking a guarantee.
The Bible teaches us not to take guarantees.
Somehow this seems selfish, and it seems like a lesson lacking in love. It is reasonable to say that in Christianity, love should stand as a guarantee for those in need.
However, the text exhorts us against rash assurances with the following words:
Verses 1-2...< My son, if you have pledged for your neighbor and pledged for others, the words of your mouth have entangled you, and the words of your mouth have brought you into captivity.
The old social system... If you gave me a guarantee, I was also responsible for that guarantee. So, if the debtor could not repay the money, the guarantor had to pay it instead, and if not, the guarantor had to pay the price by becoming a slave or slave to the creditor.
That's why Proverbs 11:15 says, "He who is a surety for others suffers loss, but he who hates being a surety finds peace."
And Proverbs 17:18...< A man without wisdom holds the hand of another, and is a surety before his neighbor.>
Proverbs 20:16...<Take the garment of one who is a surety for another; for he who is a surety to strangers, his body shall be taken hostage.>
Looking at these Bible lessons, we can learn the following lessons.
##### 1. Don't make a warranty rashly.
Proverbs 27:10..."Do not forsake your friend or your father's friend, and do not enter your brother's house in the day of your trouble, for a neighbor nearer is better than a brother far away."
-- There's a saying called neighbor cousins.
The Bible also tells us to love your neighbor as yourself. In fact, when someone in your neighborhood is in trouble, it is a beautiful and desirable thing to save that person with a guarantee. And that's the way we are Christians.
But the important thing is not to take the guarantee in vain. This means that you have to be careful with your warranty.
What do you mean?
1) You should only make a guarantee when you can take responsibility for it.
2) Don't take a guarantee unless you can afford to pay it back. -- I have to make a guarantee with the heart that I love that person and that I can pay it back if that person can't pay it back.
3) If you have a guarantee, you must take responsibility for what you did.
##### 2. The person who made the guarantee should try to get out of the guarantee as soon as possible.
how?
1) We must humbly ask our neighbors.
Verse 3 “My son, do this because you have fallen into your neighbour’s hand. Go immediately and humbly plead with your neighbor to save yourself...
-- There is an old saying that <sit to give and receive while standing> <going to the bathroom is different from going out>.
When borrowing money or asking for a guarantee, they crouch down and ejaculate and get it. But once we get it, it is our people who become high-status.
If you want to receive money, you have to take it while making an assessment.
That's why you should try to get out of warranty as soon as possible before the time runs out. Even if the circumstances are so pitiful that you have given a guarantee, you should speak humbly to get the matter resolved and sorted out quickly.
2) Don't sleep and hurry up.
Verse 4 <Let your eyes sleep, and your eyelids shall not close...>
Luke 11:5-8...< And he said to them, "Which of you has a friend, and he goes to him in the middle of the night and says, Friend, lend me three loaves of bread. If a friend of mine came to me on a journey, but I have nothing to feed, he answered from within and said, "Do not trouble me, because the door has already been shut and the children are lying in bed with me. I cannot get up and give it to you." I tell you, though he will not rise up to give because of his friendship, he will rise up and give him whatever he needs because of his persistence.
This verse is a metaphor that God answers those who pray earnestly and listen.
But, as I said here, you can't be beaten by those who harass you.
3) You must come out with wisdom and courage.
Verse 5...< Save yourself as a roe deer escapes from the hand of a hunter, as a bird escapes from the hand of a nether.
##### 3. You have to be afraid of other people's debts.
Anyone who doesn't know that other people's money is scary is ruined.
James 1:14...<But each one is tempted, being drawn away and deceived by his own lust; and lust has conceived, and gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.>
covetousness must be overcome. I need to be satisfied with what I have.
-- There are people who are not afraid of other people's money. There are many people who do not feel any burden on their hearts because they have debt here and there. No, there are people who like it.
However, we believers need to know that other people's money is scary.
We must go further and live a shared life.
-- Basil...<The bread in your intestines belongs to the hungry, the clothes in your closet belong to the naked, the shoes you are wearing belong to the godless, and what you have stored up is the riches of the needy.
-- You must learn the integrity and innocence of Monk Seongcheol.
conclusion
I pray in the name of the Lord that we can become faithful people of the Lord who live a wise life of faith without being tempted by money by realizing that we are afraid of other people's money, and therefore we need to be careful about taking other people's guarantees. - Amen - ( 1994. 5. 25. 3 nights )
