Title Amen (Revelation 22:20)
Contents The words we use the most in our religious life are “Hallelujah”, “Filled with the Holy Spirit” and “Amen”. Today, I would like to share the grace of thinking about Amen.
1. Faith in Amen
The Christian faith is the faith of Amen. The spirituality of Christianity is the spirituality of Amen, and the Christian life is also the life of Amen. Because God is the 'God of Amen'. The Bible says that God is the God of Amen. Isaiah 65:16 says, “Therefore, he who seeks a blessing for himself on earth will seek a blessing from the God of truth, and he who swears on earth will swear by the God of truth.” Here, “the God of truth” means “the God of Amen.” The first meaning of Amen is “Truly”, but the God of truth is the God of Amen.
2. Abraham's Amen Faith
Abraham's faith was always the faith of obedience with Amen. God called Abraham one day and brought them out to look at the sky, and then promised that he would give them children. In Genesis 15:5, “He took him outside and said, Look up to heaven and count the stars, if you can count them. Abraham received this word as Amen. In Genesis 15:6, it says, “Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord credited it to him as righteousness.” This was Abraham's faith in Amen.
Abraham believed in God as an almighty God without impossibility. How should we respond when we meet Almighty God? In the Old Testament, Job 42:2, he confessed, “I know that the Lord is impossible, and that there is nothing impossible to accomplish.” The God we believe in is the Almighty God and there is nothing that cannot be accomplished. Isaiah 14:27 says, “The LORD of hosts hath devised it; who can abolish it, and stretch out his hand; who can turn it back?”
Jeremiah 32:17 says, “Alas, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth with your mighty power and your outstretched arm; nothing is too difficult with you.” Also in Matthew 19:26, Jesus looked at them and said, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” That's right. Man is impossible, but God is not impossible. In Mark 9:23, Jesus said, “If it is possible, what do you mean? Nothing is impossible for him who believes.”
That's right. God is a God who fulfills His promises. In Numbers 23:19, it says, “God is not a human being, so he does not express himself; he is not the Son of Man, and he has no regrets. God is a God who speaks once and promises to fulfill it. 1 Samuel 15:29 says, “The Most High of Israel neither lies nor repents; for he is not a man, and he does not change.” 2 Chronicles 19:7 says, “Therefore, be on your guard in the fear of the Lord; for the Lord our God is neither unrighteous nor partial, nor takes a bribe.”
Abraham had the faith to respond with Amen to the promise of Almighty God. In Isaiah 14:24, it says, "The LORD of hosts has sworn, 'The things that I have envisioned will come to pass, and the things that I have planned will surely come to pass'. Abraham confessed his faith with Amen when God showed him the stars and promised a son. Romans 4:3 says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him for righteousness.” Romans 10:9-10 says, “If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. come,” he said.
Amen only with the lips is an unanswered Amen. The Bible warns against the faith of simply saying Amen with the lips without faith. Matthew 7:21 says, “Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only those who do the will of my Father who is in heaven.” Dear brothers and sisters, are you Amen only with your lips or Amen with your faith? Do you believe in God as Almighty God? Or are you a theoretical theist who believes only in theory? There are a lot of worship services, but isn't it a worship service that only offers vain sacrifices (worship)? Such people only tread on the temple courts (Isa 1:12).
3. God of truth (Amen) who blesses
Isaiah 65:16 says, “Therefore, those who seek a blessing for themselves on earth will seek a blessing from the God of truth.” Because the one who gives blessings is the God of truth, ask the God of truth for blessings.
The word for blessing here is barak. Blessings come from God who is true and does not lie. He also blesses those who trust and obey God. His Son, Jesus Christ, is also Jesus who is Amen. Revelation 3:14 says, “Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the beginning of creation, saith.” Because Jesus is Amen, our faith must also be Amen. In 2 Corinthians 1:20 it says, “All the promises of God are yes in Christ, so that through him we say Amen to the glory of God.” There must be trust, obedience, and determination the moment you confess that you say Amen, not Amen on your lips.
4. Amen of the hope of the Second Coming
Jesus, who is Amen (Revelation 3:14), has promised to return. In the Bible, Jesus promised the second coming 314 times. Revelation 22:20 says, “The one who testified of these said, ‘Truly, I am coming soon.’ Amen, come, Lord Jesus.” When Jesus returns, those who receive Amen can welcome the Lord. Those who have the faith of Amen must live a holy life until the Lord comes. 1 Thessalonians 3:13 says, “You must be kept blameless in spirit, soul and body until the Second Coming of the Lord.” This is the life of Amen. The body must be clean and the soul must be kept clean. This is a holy life, a holy life.
