Andrew's Evangelism

John 1:35-42

We all know that Peter played a role like a pillar in the history of the early church among the 12 disciples of Jesus. However, not many people remember that it was his brother Andrew who led this Peter to Jesus. Without Andrew, Peter might have lived his life as a fisherman if he had not led him to the Lord. This is a great example of how great it can be to lead a person to the Lord.

1. He met the Messiah first.

Andrew was Simon Peter's brother. Andrew, a fisherman from Bethsaida on the Sea of Galilee, was a disciple of John the Baptist (35-39). Following the introduction of John the Baptist, he stays overnight and realizes who he is meeting. He had met the Messiah. This is the most important condition for Andrew to preach Jesus. You cannot testify of Jesus without meeting Jesus. Evangelism means meeting Jesus. Conversely, those who met Jesus are proved by evangelism. Evangelism is not a matter of knowledge or technique. It is the content and gospel of Jesus Christ.

2. A close person was the target of evangelism (41).

He always shared Jesus with the people he met, the people around him, and his family. Andrew did not travel far to evangelize. Those who visited unfamiliar places or did not know were not evangelists. It was a close person, his brother Peter. Andrew received evangelism training in order to evangelize, and he did not analyze who he was, study cases, or think about whether that person would accept him. I shared the Jesus I had met with my closest brother.

3. First, I went to tell them (41).

‘He went first’ Andre went first. When the dead come, they are not dead. The living must go first. That is evangelism. Evangelism requires spiritual activeness, active attitude, and spiritual ability to work. Evangelism in the early church was a visiting evangelism. Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Jesus (Acts 11:19-21). Philip found Nathanael and said (John 1:45).

4. He proclaimed that Jesus was the Savior (41).

What you are going to convey is very important. What's the use of visiting 100 times and still talking about the world? If it's all about showing off your children, showing off your clothes, and humiliating others when you meet, it doesn't mean anything. It is a good case to testify with examples to share Jesus. However, the essence of evangelism must be Christ.

5. brought to Jesus (42).

After he met Jesus, he found and preached to a brother who was close to him. And brought them to Jesus. The owner of the banquet did not come for various excuses, so he went out to the streets and alleys to take people and fill my house. This is the heart of the Lord. Returning to Jesus is the purpose of Jesus coming to this earth. This is Jesus' invitation to those who labor and are heavy laden.

Andrew's evangelism was the beginning of Peter. The sick in the early church longed for his shadow to pass by. We also led someone to the Lord by praying for us and sharing the gospel. So I became a child of God and came to serve. I must first find Jesus whom I have met and bring them to Jesus. I need to realize that the soul I have brought to the Lord is more precious than the world, a great person of God I never imagined.
