Title Andrew's Evangelism / John 1:35-46
Content Andrew's Evangelism
(John 1:35-46)
The purpose of Jesus coming into this world is to save souls. The Lord's last great command is the salvation of souls. Daniel 12:3 says, "The wise will shine like the light of the firmament, and the one who turns many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever."
A beautiful church in God's eyes fills the temple of God. Andrew is showing us good evangelism methods and lessons for us who have to carry out this mission. Andrew was a fisherman in Bethseda of Galilee. Andrew was a disciple of John the Baptist. The moment he met Jesus and firmly believed that he was the Messiah, he became a disciple of Jesus, and at the same time, he became a person with the talent and gift to lead people to Jesus. His short articles appearing in the Bible show that he was a simple, honest, upright man, rather than speculative and crafty, and that he was a kind and practical person. He was convinced of what he had first believed and was the one who evangelized Peter, who later became the chief disciple of Jesus. Today, through Andrew's evangelism, we will find out what kind of mindset and actions we need to put into practice the mission of evangelism.
First, Andrew went out to evangelize right away.
Andrew was a figure of action and action. It is important for us to be figures of theory and speculation, but it is also very important that we become figures of practice and action. It is not important to discuss the tabletop discussion, it is important to go out to the field and evangelize. After believing and following Jesus specifically, he went out and preached without delay. Evangelism is not something you do after you have perfected your life of faith or faith. Evangelism is always something. Evangelism starts after you have faith regardless of the “time”. In 2 Timothy 4:2 it says, “Preach the word, in season and out of season, always striving”. If we have the assurance of salvation and have compassion for the souls of others, we must evangelize without delay.
Second, they immediately found and evangelized Peter. He thought of his brother first. When we want to evangelize, it is important to determine the target of evangelism. If our target isn't accurate, it's not easy to hit. And the closer the target is, the easier it is to hit. Please evangelize from the person closest to you. Look at Acts 1:8. “But you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth, when the Holy Spirit comes on you.” The scope of evangelism extends from the nearest Jerusalem to the farthest ends of the earth.
Andrew did not evangelize unconditionally and vaguely. He evangelized the people who were nearby, that is, his brother Peter first. As Peter was his brother, he must have had a lot of information about the target of evangelism. So he could easily evangelize Peter. In this way, we also need to set a specific target for evangelism and have a good understanding of the person's identity. Therefore, we must actively seek and evangelize. Also, you should not give up halfway, but pray earnestly and evangelize until your heart is broken. So we must plant the Word of God in our dying hearts.
Third, Andrew preached the gospel right away.
As soon as Andrew met Peter, he did not say anything else, but only testified of Jesus. The apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 2:1-2, “Brothers, when I came to you and preached the testimony of God, I did not do it in the prettiest of words or wisdom; I did nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I have decided not to know.” We only need to testify to the correct message and confirmatory word. Then God will partake of the fruit through a great change in his heart.
Fourth, they brought Peter to Jesus.
Andrew was an evangelist who not only preached the word to his brother Peter, but also brought him directly to Jesus so that he could have confidence in him. Like Andrew's evangelism, I hope that we too will sow seeds and testify of Jesus, regardless of season or season. Please spread the word of salvation we have received with earnestness to dying souls. I pray in the name of the Lord that you will become believers who evangelize diligently like Andrew, and that the seeds of the gospel you sow will bear fruit and bring salvation to many people as well as your family. .
