Bible Text: Psalm 16:1-11
Are you a saint?
I see a believer who has just come out of the church writing that he is a saint and donating. When I ask, “Are you the deacon?” I hear people say, “You are not a deacon, but a saint.” Who are the saints? A saint is not a lay person who has not yet received a church office. “The saints on the earth are honored, and all my joy belongs to them” (verse 3). He is a man whom God is proud of.
Saints are those who have been called and have been sanctified by the Holy Spirit. They are faithful to God and worship God every Sunday. Those who are saved by the grace of God and live by faith. God came down to the place where ten thousand believers were gathered (Deuteronomy 33:2). God never forsakes the saints (Psalm 37:28). who is a saint From now on, the person I am talking about is a saint.
First, believers are people who live by praying.
“Protect me, O God, for in you I take refuge” (verse 1). This is a prayer for the saints who are in danger asking for God's protection. I want you to protect me as the guards protect the king. “I take refuge in You.” Just as we flee to a safe place when there is a riot, we are looking for a place of refuge in the Lord.
The prayers of the saints pierce the clouds and reach God. Suffering teaches prayer. David prayed when he was in trouble. Prayer helps us overcome adversity. A believer is a person who prays to God without becoming discouraged when things are difficult.
“Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13). “How can I call on him in whom I have not believed?” (Romans 10:13-14) “I cried out to the Lord” (verse 2), so I hope that you will become saints who call on God and live. “Is any of you suffering? I will pray... the prayer of faith will save the sick” (James 5:13,15) Saints are people who pray. Samuel said it is a sin to stop praying. I hope that you will become a saint who prays without ceasing.
Second, a believer is a person who lives with God as a blessing.
“…I said, ‘You are my Lord, and I have no blessing but you’” (verse 2). A saint is a person who cannot find happiness anywhere apart from the Lord. It is believing that God is the source of all things. God's wisdom and treasures are endless. You are blessed with the inspiration of wisdom from God. When Joseph was moved by God, he became Sabanath Barnea. I became the prime minister who looked forward to the future and prepared and managed the country.
Jesus calls God Lord and we call Jesus Lord. “Lord” means master or ruler. I believe that it is a blessing to live with Jesus as Lord and Jehovah as God. "There is nothing more precious than the Lord Jesus. There is nothing more precious than the Lord Jesus. There is nothing more precious than the Lord Jesus. There is none other than Jesus." (Hymns 102)
In verse 5, “The Lord is my inheritance, and he keeps my portion.” This means that God will determine the wealth I will receive and the cup I will drink. He fills my empty cup and fills my heart with joy. “Delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4). I hope that you will become saints who live with God as a blessing.
Third, saints are people who believe and live the promised enterprise.
A saint is a believer who firmly believes in the word of the Lord's covenant. It is never difficult for a person to succumb to negative thoughts while in trouble. We must cast out negative thoughts and fulfill God's promises. “The land that I lined up is in a beautiful place; indeed my inheritance is beautiful” (verse 6). The land that was lined up for the Israelites was Canaan and Jerusalem. We must look to God's promises. God still has grand plans for us. You must believe in that promise.
Without faith, we cannot please God and we cannot see the field where God's promises are fulfilled. Let's not commit the foolishness of not believing God's promises through frustration and discouragement. What you see is not a wish. God's promise is an invisible true hope. “My eternal inheritance is more precious than life. Come with me as I walk along my path” (Hymns 492). I hope that you will become saints who take the promise of God as your inheritance.
Fourth, believers are those who meditate on the Word of God day and night.
“Blessed be the LORD, who admonished me; night after night my heart instructs me” (verse 7). The heart is the source of feelings and love. It is the teaching of God to bless and sanctify the saints. When I meditate on the Word of God, my heart instructs me. My path must be steered by me. Otherwise, others will control me.
“Blessed is the man who delights in the law of the Lord, and meditates on it day and night” (Psalm 1:2). Meditation is chewing the cud of God. Reading those words aloud and absorbing that energy. “He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither, and all its events prosper” (Psalm 1:3). In a world like a dry wilderness, those who live with the living water of the Holy Spirit flowing from God are the saints and the work of the saints will prosper.
The word of God makes us prosper, succeed, and be happy. to achieve what you intend. “Do not let this book of the law depart from your mouth, but meditate on it day and night, and observe all that is written in it, so that you may make your way prosperous” (Joshua 1:8).
Fifth, believers are people who depend on God and do not move.
“I have set the LORD always before me” (verse 8). To have God before means to live in dependence on God without interruption. Those who live with God say: “I will not be moved, and I will not have trouble from generation to generation” (Psalm 10:6).
Peter quoted this verse in his sermon. “I have seen the Lord always before me; he is at my right hand, that I may not be moved” (Acts 2:25). Do not give up. Will you choose to give up? Choose tenacity for tenacity.
A house built on a rock is not shaken. The ships descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and crashed against the house, but it did not fall. It is an ointment that is placed on a rock. To shake means to shake. It is a state of extreme instability. “In the same way I looked to you in the sanctuary, to see your power and your glory” (Psalm 63:2). Those who look to God in the temple will see glory. When attached to the Lord, it does not sway. A fish attached to a rock does not sway even in a storm. It does not sway in the storm because it rests on the arm of the Lord. Rely on you, depend on you!
Sixth, saints are people who live joyfully and joyfully.
Life goes by quickly. You can't waste time getting angry and complaining. God wants us not to rejoice tomorrow, but to rejoice from now on.
“Therefore my heart rejoices, and my glory rejoices, and my body also shall dwell in safety” (verse 9). Although the world cannot satisfy him, he is not lacking in God. “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” The joy and joy of the saints do not come from earthly treasures, but are spiritual treasures that come from God. If we rejoice in the midst of suffering, Satan will fall into deep despair. Let's be saints who always rejoice.
“We who are in Jesus have infinite joy and the comfort of the Holy Spirit fills our hearts... How can we not rejoice and give thanks as we constantly hear His gracious words like the sound of heavenly music? In this world, even when the harsh winds and winds blow non-stop, the Lord is waiting for you. A saint is a person who lives in the joy that the Lord gives, even in the face of trials.
“You will show me the way of life; in your presence is fullness of joy, and at your right hand are eternal joys” (verse 11). You are the shepherd who satisfies me, the truth that enriches me, and the life that leads to my prosperity. The saints are people who live joyfully even though they seem to have nothing to rejoice in. He is a saint who rejoices by hiding hidden treasures. Those who possess heaven and live joyfully and joyfully are saints.
Seventh, the saints are those who please God.
Who are the saints that God is pleased with? “The kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, by which those who serve Christ are pleasing to God and acceptable to men” (Romans 14:17-18).
“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). When He comes to visit us and knocks on the door, He is pleased with the person who hears the sound and opens the door and welcomes Him as Lord.
“The saints on the earth are honorable, and all my joy belongs to them” (verse 3). I may be nothing to people, but I am honorable in the sight of God. My worth is that I belong to God. “You are mine; I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine” (Isaiah 43:1).
He rejoices because we are children of God. There are some shortcomings, but still happy. He rejoices because we have become his children through faith in God.
The word 'honor' means 'noble' or 'glory'. We are God's saints (Daniel 7:22). These are the people God has chosen and set apart. Even when we fall, we don't really fall over. Because the LORD holds up with his hand (Psalm 37:24, 28).
A believer is a person who lives and prays. A person who lives with God as a blessing. I have no luck but You! A person who lives by making promises as a company.
A person who lives by meditating on the Word. He is a man who is not shaken even in tribulation. He is a happy and happy person. The saints are people who please God. Let's all live as saints.
