2010.6.6 Sunday morning service sermon
Bible: John 8:29-32
Title: Are You Spiritually Free?
29. He who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, because I always do what pleases him. 30. When he said this, many believed.
31. Therefore Jesus said to the Jews who believed in him, If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples; 32. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.' - Amen.
Would it be good for a person to have adequate money and health to live and to have honor? However, Cheon-seok-kun has a thousand worries, and Man-seok-kun has ten thousand worries, so there is no difference in living a life in vain, whether or not he can go a lot. You just have to be comfortable with your heart and soul. How can our spiritual life be at peace so that our life of faith becomes a blessing? Today we want to meet the Lord who gives us true spiritual freedom.
The 12 disciples who were following Jesus also ran away when they were in trouble while following Jesus, and when the Lord asked us to pray together, they fell asleep and fell asleep. Jesus, who knew the hearts of deceitful people, was a lonely man.
Matthew 8:20 "Jesus said to them, "Foxes have dens, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."
But Jesus says in today's text:
Text, John 8:29 “He who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, because I always do what pleases him.”
Therefore, in order to become co-workers with our Heavenly Father, we too must do what pleases the Lord.
1. You must know the Word
Text, John 8:32 ‘You will know the truth and the truth will set you free’
What does it mean to know the truth? The truth is actually Jesus Himself, but what we can see and confirm with our own eyes is what the Bible says.
If you know the truth here, the word to know is the Greek word ginwvskw. It is also a term originally used to refer to the sexual life of a man and a woman.
When people say they are acquaintances, they may be people who know only their names, between people who eat together often, between friends, between acquaintances through business relationships, or between acquaintances who cook and eat rice in the same house and live under the same blanket. are all different. Jesus, who is the truth, to know the truth of Jesus means to know like a married couple. So, it doesn't mean that you know as if you were studying at an academy, it means that you know deeply in your heart and with your whole body.
In such places, it is often said that it shows heaven and hell while repeating strange sounds. God is not a magician, but a person who speaks and understands the words, so we want to share the word today, not to share a strange mystery. Although there are mysteries in the Bible, 99% of it is full of words and precepts.
When there were many people following Jesus, he once asked his disciples who they said I was. He still asks us. Who do you think and believe in me? If you ask such a question, you need to prepare how to answer it.
2. We must live the words of Jesus
First, by understanding the words of Jesus, we gain faith and receive salvation.
John 17:3 “This is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”
No matter what anyone says, you have received eternal life because you have believed and come to know Jesus as your Savior and the true God.
Now, the important thing is how the saints who have been promised eternal life can receive and enjoy God's blessings in this world. What should I do? It must always dwell in the word and thought of God.
There are a lot of divorces these days, and some people leave even if they don't have money, but even if they have money, they leave their home when their love grows cold. right? It's going to be cool. If the Lord is good, the Lord's house is good, and we love to dwell with the Lord.
Text, John 8:31 “He said to them, If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples.”
Here, if you abide in my words, the word abiding. The word mevnw means to continue to dwell without ceasing in the words and precepts of Jesus. But you have to remember this. There is a very scary saying about what will happen if we do not have the truth of Jesus in us.
John 8:37 ‘…you seek to kill me, because my words have no place in you. Even believers do that. Very scary, isn't it?
Romans 8:7 “The mind set on the flesh is hostile to God…”
Galatians 4:16 “Have you become an enemy because you speak the truth?”
2 Corinthians 3:17 “The Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” A believer who properly receives the Holy Spirit must always have the happiness of spiritual freedom.
The reason why the saints are so anxious is that in most cases, it is possible that I cannot live according to the word of the Lord, so if I look back on myself and reflect on whether I am longing for and living in the Lord’s truth, and earnestly long for the Lord’s truth again, I will recover spiritually and receive the grace of the truth You can enjoy it. I pray that you and I will enjoy spiritual freedom with all your might to know your truth well and live by your truth.
