Text/ 1 Corinthians 9:24-27
It does not necessarily mean that the conditions are good and the environment is good to be successful.
Rather, they are more likely to succeed and win prizes because of poor conditions.
On April 16, 1996, a race was held in Boston, USA to "commemorate the 100th anniversary of the World Marathon." It was the best event of the century, with 38,000 people from all over the world taking part in the race.
But what is surprising is that seven of the Kenyan players in Africa made it to the top 10.
The laurel wreath was won by the 31-year-old “Mojestanui” and Kenya won the championship for six years.
Kenya is situated on a plateau that reaches 2,500 meters.
Because they live in the highlands, they have great lung capacity, so they have the best conditions for a marathon runner. No one is fat because they are poor and cannot consume high-fat calories.
The story of unfavorable conditions and poor environment is not limited to sports.
The world-famous conductor “Toscanini” had such a bad eye that he could not read the music properly. It is said that he played by memorizing sheet music to play the violin.
American “Franklin Roosevelt” was handicapped because of polio as a child, but overcame his physical disability and became a great president.
There are people who kneel in front of weaknesses and bad conditions and end their lives as losers, and there are people who overcome these situations and succeed.
1, you must do your best. verse 24
Verse 24: “Do you not know that all who run in the field run, but only one wins the prize? Run in the same way that you may win.”
No matter how many people run together, when you reach the goal, the prize will be different depending on who did their best.
The success or failure of the religious life is determined by who did their best.
The message of the text is to do your best until the whistle blows to end the game.
(2 Timothy 4:7-8) “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; from now on there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that day. to all those who yearn for him.”
2, you have to fight yourself and win. verse 25
Verse 25: “Everyone who competes for the victory is temperate in all things; they want a corruptible crown, but we want the incorruptible.”
Jakshim Samil / This is a word that came about because I couldn't win a fight with myself. Health, alcohol, cigarettes, study, prayer, and a plan for the year are grand at first.
However, as time passes, it becomes dull and ends without bearing any fruit.
Verse 25/“Temperance”
We must control what our flesh desires. (1 John 2:16) A reward is given when you live in denial of “the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.”
Verse 27: “I beat my body into subjection”
When my body refuses, I have to train it to obey.
Everyone is fighting against themselves.
Conditions and environments do not have to be favorable.
Yes)-
[It is said that the paratroopers go to Jeju Island or the southern tip of Jeollanam-do for more than 5 weeks each year to receive training, and as the last course, they come fully armed and walk a week to return to the unit.
At that time, the soles of the soldiers blistered unsightly and the skin peeled off, and even though there was blood, it is said that no one was left behind.
I asked them. When asked what was the most difficult and difficult part of the walk, a soldier answered that he could withstand high mountains or storms, but the most difficult thing to bear was small sand in his boots. It's easy to fall for such a small thing and give up.
Thank you for the small things, and if you win, you will be given big wins]
3, the direction setting must be right.
Verse 26: “Therefore, I will not run as if I had no direction, and I would not fight as if I was striking the air.”
You have to run with a clear goal, and you have to have a clear target for spiritual and physical battles.
If you take a car or train without a destination, you will have to change because it will only waste time and material.
(1 Peter 1:8-9) “You have not seen Jesus, but you love him. Even though you do not see him now, you believe and rejoice in unspeakable glory, for in the end of your faith you are saved.”
Get on the salvation train and go to heaven,
No matter how difficult the economy, those who do well will still do well.
This is because we have prayed and prepared in advance and lived.
The members of the beloved "Yewon Church" must run while thinking of the arms of the Lord who has prepared the incorruptible crown.
The crown of life, the crown of glory, the golden crown, the crown of righteousness, all are prepared for us.
Salvation comes by faith but the crown comes through works.
