◎ Introduction
: God now reveals His justice by judging Assyria and shows His faithfulness toward the covenant people.
※ When the judgment was warned through Jonah 100 years ago, it was possible to avoid judgment by repenting. But that repentance was temporary,
Their essential disregard for God has not changed. Therefore, judgment is pronounced on them through Nahum.
※ Assyria in particular oppressed Judah, God's people, and blatantly opposed God by making them worship their gods.
1. God's judgment on Nineveh. (1-6)
※ God's sovereignty and providence extend not only to His people, but also to foreign nations.
※ God's power and disposition are displayed in the judgment of God given to Nineveh through the prophet Nahum.
1) A warning to Nineveh. (One)
※ He heard Jonah's warning 100 years ago and repented and escaped judgment, but Nineveh fell back to his original evil state.
※ At that time, Assyria, the most powerful country, had already destroyed the northern kingdom of Israel and conquered and ruled Judah.
In this situation, God's wrath against Assyria's evil was proclaimed.
2) Reason for judgment. (2)
※ It emphasizes God's wrath and judgment and shows that God's retribution will surely come for those who do not turn back.
① Jealousy: Jealousy is not tolerating others in a competitive relationship.
② Retaliation: In judicial terms, it relates to correcting wrongdoing. revealing the justice of God.
③ Wrath: God is always angry with sin. That wrath is expressed in judgment.
3) God's patience and justice. (3)
※ He judges sin fully, but He reveals it after a long period of compassion and mercy.

① The Lord is slow to anger. This provides an opportunity for repentance.
② The power of God is great. Patience is patience, not inability to punish
③ God never forgives sinners. Don't let the sin go on and on.
4) The power of God to execute judgment. (3~5)
※ A prophet is a person who will resist God's judgment through God's fearful and irresistible power revealed in the natural world.

How can an individual's kingdom withstand God's judgment?
2. The fall of Assyria and the salvation of Judah. (7-15)
※ The judgment that will come on Assyria is salvation for the people of Judah who suffered because of them. When God Destroys the Oppressors
His goodness toward Judah will be revealed.
1) God protects the faithful. (7)
※ The warning of judgment against Assyria is naturally aligned with the goodness of God for Judah.
※ God will keep His people safe.
※ God repays the wicked through His wrath and removes all obstacles that hinder redemption.
2) Destroy those who oppose them. (8)
※ The God who judges the enemy acts with power that no one can bear, just as a flood overflows and sweeps away everything.
* In fact, it is the fact that there was actually a great flood in Nineveh when Assyria was destroyed.
※ It is said that the combined forces of Mede and Babel conquered Nineveh through a wall that had collapsed 4 km from the flood. this is
God's word of judgment is not merely a warning, but a description of what will actually happen.
3) There is no one who can resist God. (9-11)
※ The powerlessness of those who oppose God will be clearly revealed through the destruction of Assyria. (9)
※ Assyria's plan to destroy God's people was ultimately a challenge to God.
※ When proud nations conspire against God, God ridicules them and turns their plans in vain.
※ The result of a conspiracy against God is to be caught in a self-made snare. as they perish for their own wicked sins
There will be no more calamities for God's people. (10)
※ Prophet Nahum makes it clear that there are people who encourage (encourage) evil and oppose God. (11)
4) Judas is saved. (12-15)
※ Even though the wicked are strong and prosperous, they will be completely eliminated through God's judgment. (12)
※ Nineveh, which destroys the northern kingdom of Israel and afflicts the southern kingdom of Judah, will be destroyed by God's judgment and will not rise again.
