The two sacraments, baptism and the Lord's Supper, are called sacraments. God made the people of Israel cross the Red Sea and provided springs of water from the rock in the wilderness to save them from death and give them life. As Jesus began his public ministry, just before he went to be tempted in the wilderness, he came out to the Jordan River and was baptized by John the Baptist. Baptism was instituted by Jesus himself, and the Lord's Supper was instituted by the Lord himself. Therefore, the sacraments are one of the most sacred ordinances of the Church.
What does baptism mean?
Baptism hides the mystery of union with the Lord who died on the cross and rose from the dead for eternity.
Baptism hides the mystery of the death of the old man who is about to perish and the resurrection of the new man who has eternal life. You are said to have been buried with Christ in baptism. Therefore, through baptism, holy people who will live for Jesus, whether they live or die, begin.
Baptism means the washing away of sins, and there is a wonderful secret hidden in that one has already been cleansed and righteous. This means that those who have died because of sin are freed from sin and moved into a holy life. Those who have been baptized should strive to live a holy life, remembering that their sins were washed away with the flesh and blood of Jesus.
Baptism gives the power of salvation. Anyone who calls on the name of Jesus will be saved. In other words, no one can expect salvation without believing in Jesus.
What does Holy Communion mean?
The Lord's Supper is a celebration of the body and blood of Jesus. Jesus celebrated the Lord's Supper with bread and wine.
In the Lord's Supper, the bread holds the wonderful mystery of commemorating the body of Jesus. The bread commemorates the body of Jesus who came as the bread of life, meaning that the Lord provided eternal life to us by dying on the cross.
The cup in Holy Communion holds the wonderful secret of commemorating the blood shed on the cross of Jesus.
How do we prepare and participate in this sacrament?
You must examine yourself and judge the body of the Lord.
You cannot dwell in sin to increase grace. Just because there is no sin that cannot be washed away with the blood of Jesus, if you act recklessly, you are not living in grace.
To sin we must be dead. You must become a person who strives not to sin even in a dream. Don't let the cross of Jesus Christ be in vain. Dear members of the Holy Communion, today! Remembering that we become one flesh with Jesus, who has come as the Lord of redemption, I pray in the name of Jesus that you will strive to walk in the truth and live a victorious life until the coming of the Lord.
