The text reads that Moses, the great leader of Israel, died, and Joshua became Moses' successor and became the new leader of Israel. But Joshua begins to get a little scared. I thought, 'How can I lead so many people?' Joshua had no choice but to hesitate, as he had seen the princes rushing at him like a lion when he made a mistake and the people criticizing him like a swarm of bees. People are often hesitant to do things they should do, but with fear and trembling. The Lord speaks to these people.
“Do not be afraid and do not be surprised”
When people become anxious and discouraged, it starts with fear and surprise. That is why God tells Joshua, “Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed.”
“Leave Everything to God”
First, he tells us to believe in the promises of God.
He promised, ‘I will be with you.’ and ‘I will give you the land on which you tread.’ We must believe in these promises of God.
He tells you to wake up.
Waking up means seeking the Lord and relying on Him.
He tells us to sing the song of the future.
“Seek Faith”
Luke 8:50] When Jesus heard it, he said to him, "Do not be afraid, just believe, and your daughter will be saved."
Mark 9:23-24] Jesus said to them, "If you can do it, what do you mean? Nothing is impossible for those who believe." Immediately the child's father cried out, "I believe; help me with my unbelief."
① Faith to believe when you can't believe it
When Thomas saw the recycling of Jesus with his own eyes and touched it with his hands before believing, Jesus said, “Blessed are those who have not seen and believe.” He says it is more blessed to believe when you cannot believe than to believe when you can.
② Obedience when you can't obey
When Peter was unable to catch any fish, Jesus said to him, “Go out into the deep and cast your net.” At that time, when Peter obeyed his words, he caught 153 fish, unlike before, when he could not catch even one.
He told Abraham to sacrifice his only son, Isaac. At the moment when Abraham obeyed the word that he could never obey, God established him as the father of faith along with the name of Abraham.
He told Naaman, the commander of the Syrian army, to bathe in the Jordan River seven times, and the moment Naaman obeyed, his leprosy was healed.
