Title Because I'm precious
Contents
Word: Do you remember what a female model exclaimed while stroking her hair in a shampoo commercial? It means “because I am important”. We often say that human beings are more precious and valuable than anything in the world. How much is this human body worth in money terms? If the human body is converted into the standard for manufacturing industrial products, it is said that an adult weighing 63 kg can make 7 soaps, 2200 matchsticks, a bag of laxatives, 1 nail, and 2000 pencil leads. If you calculate it in money, it's about 5,000 won, so I think it's too cheap. Nevertheless, the Bible gives us reasons to cry out, “Because I am precious.”
First, God planned and created all people in advance (verse 26). God did not create man by accident, He made man in His image and likeness, and He planned in advance what we should do.
Second, God made man in His image (verse 27). Among all creations, He allowed only humans to have the heart and mind of God. Because human beings were created in the image of God, they are valuable as they exist regardless of their abilities and appearance.
Third, God gave man a work to do (verse 28). This is not a command from God to specific people. God placed people in this world and commanded them to protect and nurture all the world that God created.
Therefore, we all came to this world according to God's special plan and providence, and we are precious beings who will protect this world with God's thoughts and hearts. Today, it is often the case that a person's existence value is judged by money, fame, appearance, and educational background. However, even in these times, believers must once again establish a proper view of humanity that values all human beings by considering the heart and will of God's creation of man.
Prayer: God, thank you for creating man when you made it, for making it in your image, and for giving him a work to do in this world. Help me to cherish myself and to cherish my family, my neighbors, and everyone else. Amen.
