Title: Because of God
Text: Ephesians 1:3-14
“I gave the center of my life to God, and my life became more enjoyable.” (Confession of Noh Sa-yeon)
1. Live your life because of God.
- Live as a child of God. You can live the best life when you live as a child of God. : There is a comparative life and a superlative life. God wants us to live a life of the highest quality. A sense of comparison creates a sense of inferiority and superiority. However, if you live a superlative life that discovers and accepts the fact that God created you with the greatest dignity, you will not fall into this kind of false comparison.
- Suicide is all the rage these days. It's sad and there's also compassion for 'how painful it must be'. Nevertheless, suicide is not. Suicide is wrong for any reason. Some people commit suicide with the thought that 'if you die, it's the end'. But God said, “It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). Look at Judas Iscariot and Peter. Both failed, but Judas Iscariot, who committed suicide, ended his life as a failure, and because Peter was alive, he was able to recover and stand up and become a better person. If you invert 'suicide', it means 'let's live'. Being successful in this world is good, but living as a child of God is even more important.
- Live your life “because of God”, not “because of whom.” Instead of blaming others for making me feel so unhappy because of someone else, we should live by loving, serving, forgiving, and patiently because of God's love while giving thanks for God's great love for saving us. See how much God loves us. The Triune God worked for our salvation. God the Father planned our salvation before the foundation of the world (verse 3). For our salvation, God the Son offered redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins (verse 7). For our salvation, God the Holy Spirit allowed us to hear the word of truth, that is, the gospel of salvation, and sealed it with a promise. God's motive for saving us is "because he loves" and "because he is happy". (Verses 4-5) Therefore, everyone! Live a life “because of God.”
2. Live for the glory of God.
- There is a purpose of salvation that God saved us. It is, in a word, for the glory of God (verses 6, 12, 14).
