Title Behold the Bridegroom Matthew 25:1-13
Jewish wedding customs have a fairly long engagement period before the ceremony. Then, on the day of the wedding, the groom goes to the bride's house, performs the ceremony, followed by a long celebration of lanterns and brings the bride home.
So let's take a look at the characters in today's text First, the groom comes out. And there are three kinds of people: the ten virgins and the one who cried out in the night. Today we will pay special attention to the third character who shouted out in the middle of the night. The text does not reveal who he is.
No one knows when the bridegroom will come. But what is clear is that the Lord, who is the bridegroom, will surely come. A man who cried out in the middle of the night, “Behold, the bridegroom, come out to meet him.” His name is not recorded, but we must remember him very dearly.
We didn't pay much attention to this person when we were dealing with the text. Even today, they are insensitive to those who shout, “Come out to meet the groom.”
The Bible says, “It is like the children sitting in the marketplace and calling each other, saying, We played the flute for you, but you did not dance; we mourned, but you did not weep” (Luke 7:32). do.
Who is this person today? He is a person who does not have time to hang out around casually, and must be alert even when everyone is sleepy. It is written that the five wise virgins and the five foolish virgins all fell asleep. “The bridegroom is slow to come, so they all slept and slept” (Matthew 25:5).
But the voice of this man who cried out in the middle of the night was able to awaken the five wise virgins. If he had slept like everyone else, the wedding would have been a mess. How would the groom feel if everyone was sleeping?
He probably wasn't a servant. So, even when everyone was asleep, he went out to the outside of Dong-gu to watch, and when he saw the procession of the groom, he ran to tell the good news. Even though he was tired and exhausted, he quietly carried out his part.
These are the workers most needed in the church today. They are people who sacrifice themselves for a beautiful mission without a name or light in a corner.
If he missed the time, his zeal was of no avail. If we didn't do our part at the right time, we wouldn't need to pay attention to him.
