Lesson 9 The Church on Earth and the Church Life of the Saints
A church does not mean a building or a place. The church is a gathering (organization) made up of only those who have been born again by the Spirit of God from all denominations, races, and nations. Although languages and gatherings are different throughout the world, we are united to one another in the Body of Christ. All born-again people are members of the family of God and are brothers and sisters in Christ.
The only foundation of the church is the Lord Jesus Christ, and it is also the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth. Christ came from heaven and built his church on the rock of faith and made him his holy bride. He also gave his life for his church. Therefore, as we love the Lord, we must live a life of devotion and faithfulness for the church, which is his body.

The Church of God has three attributes and powers. The attributes of the Church include the unity and holiness in Christ as the spiritual body of Jesus Christ, and the universality of the Church in that it includes all believers in all times and in all places.
Also, the authority of the church is spiritual in that it is given by the Holy Spirit, and it is a vicarious authority from Christ. These include the right of doctrine to defend and preach the truth, the right to govern to keep everything in the church neat and orderly, and the right to serve within the church.
