A person is often compared to a bowl. There are many types of bowls in the world. Bowls made of gold, bowls made of silver, bowls made of stainless steel, bowls made of paper, etc. But what's in the bowl is more important than the bowl itself. The quality of a bowl depends on what it contains. What is in your heart vessel? Are you not filled with the greed of the world? Aren't you full of all sorts of bad thoughts, like hating other people? Please cleanse your heart vessel. And put Jesus in the vessel of your heart. If you do, your heart will find rest and joy, and you will be used as God's most treasured vessel (Romans 9:21, 1 Peter 3:7).
During the year-end and New Year holidays, it is common to say "Happy New Year". In order for us to be blessed, we need to prepare a large vessel. You can't get much with a small bowl. Who is the one who prepared the big bowl?
Those who think only of themselves and their family, who slander and curse others, are those who have prepared a small vessel. A person who prepares a large vessel is a person who thinks about his neighbor, the nation, and prays and thinks for mankind. Men like Mother Teresa and Dr. Schweitzer became great because they sought to serve humanity beyond themselves, their families, and their peoples.
A person who wishes to bless and help everyone he meets is a person who prepares a large bowl, and God uses such a person preciously and blesses him.
God pours out the same love, but only those who have an empty heart and a pure heart can fill it with that love. There is no room for God's love in a vessel full of miscellaneous worldly things.
One of the major ills of the Korean church is local churchism and denominationalism. This is to imprison Jesus in a small church. Those who think only of their church and their denomination (denomination) are small vessels. We must abandon the one church (denominational) centralism, not heresy, and become one centered on Jesus.
Guys, the hardships of life make us great. Don't large bowls take a long time to grow and large trees grow with a stronger wind? When it is made large, it has to endure for a long time in a hotter furnace and there is pain, but once you get out of that tunnel of suffering, you will have a beautiful figure that cannot be compared with anyone else. Isn't it a great shade to provide rest to many people under a big tree?
Is there anyone among you who has been through a lot of hardship and suffering recently? But in the end, God refines us through such hardships and trials, lowers us down, and makes us into great vessels. I know that the reason I have given you this kind of suffering is an ordeal to make you into a bigger vessel. Just as we were eventually shaped into the image of a great believer while experiencing suffering, we should never be afraid of suffering. We need the wisdom to turn the pain of our trials into pearls of great price. The more hardships come, the more we fall on our faces, cry out, and cling to God, and God will be with us in splendid blessings and miracles that cannot be compared with suffering. Isn't it said that suffering is a blessing in disguise? A large bowl lasts a long time. People of great blessings and people of great miracles are created through long hardships and adversity.
As long as we live, we should all have long-awaited dreams. Don't underestimate ourselves too much in my thoughts. Don't underestimate yourself, even if I think you lack ability, lack of education, or have nothing. Because Almighty God is always with us and I am the only unique person in this world. If there is a desire in my heart to do good for others, I have to pursue that dream with courage without hesitation. Don't care about my abilities and only pursue grand dreams in the faith, even if there will be ridicule and criticism from many people. You must have confidence and faith that God has already planned and prepared for your future long ago. Amazing results are achieved when we have big dreams for the future and confidently put them into action.
There is a parable like this. There was a certain fisherman. He was always catching fish on the beach. But when he catches big fish, he always throws them back into the sea and returns home with only small fish. A friend asked him. "Why do you bring home only small fish?" he replied, "we only have a small frying pan."
We hope that we will break free from the small fence of ourselves (me) and become a big vessel in which we live a life of loving God and loving our neighbors with big dreams and visions.
* Prayer: I love you, God of love. The Lord is our everything. We want to imitate the character of the Lord. We want to work faithfully with the talents and mission the Lord has entrusted to us. I want to love the Lord with all my heart, mind, and soul. Thank you for entrusting us with the things that we can serve and for allowing us to be used as little instruments of the Lord. Please guide and protect us so that we can overcome the temptations and sins of the world and live. Help me to fulfill the role of light and salt well during my life in this world. Praise God for the gift that is appropriate for each of us. Remember that all of these things are from God, and with the gifts and powers you have given me, help me to fulfill my assigned duties. I beg you in Jesus name. Amen.
