Text: Psalm 1: 1-6

Psalm 1 contains the most fundamental problems of life. It is about blessing and woe, implying that all life is walking on one of these two paths. It is the path of the blessed and the path of the wicked.
Everyone wants to walk the path of the blessed. This was the path David wanted so much. For this reason, every verse of the psalm expresses the poet's longing for God's blessing, and everyone who reads this psalm longs to walk the path of the Blessed One.
What is the path of the blessed?
1. Do not follow the counsel of the wicked.
The trick of the wicked is to think of wrongdoing. It refers to the advice or plan of an evil person. What is evil? In Jeremiah 2:19 the prophet Jeremiah said, "You have forsaken the LORD your God, and there is no fear of me in you." Therefore, evil means something radically different from the thoughts of God. A lawyer came to Jesus and called, 'Good teacher...'. Jesus answered him, 'No one is good but God alone.' Essentially, our good means that God cannot compare to good.
The young man asked, 'What must I do to inherit eternal life?'
In the young man's opinion, he wants to do something good, but the question is, what kind of work should he do specifically? Unbeknownst to him, this young man must have lived for many years, doing his own good. However, he is not deceived at what level his line is at. In fact, the good of man is that he is slightly better than others, and it is difficult to say that he has done good. In the human heart, everyone has the minds of Adam and Eve. It's just a difference in degree, and it's only a difference in the degree that it appears and is hidden. We condemn the actions of Ananias and Sapphira. Because his thinking was wrong. What he deceived intoxicated seemed sweet and savory at the moment, but later his mouth was filled with sand, the writer of Proverbs 20:17 records. Do not walk in the counsel of the wicked!
2. Do not stand in the path of sinners.
The sinner's way is a way contrary to God's purpose. One of these customs is widely known in Central Africa. Whenever a subject takes the wrong path and returns to the first path, it is always placed across a large tree branch where it is going the wrong way, and a furrow is made in the ground so that the following subject does not make the same mistake.
What is the sinner's way? The way of Adam and Eve and the way of Achan. The way of Noah, the way of Sodom and Gomorrah. It was Lot's wrong choice and the path that Lot's sons-in-law walked. Their paths were consistently the ones that drew the wrath of God. Therefore, the sinner's way means a way far from God's purpose of creation.
3. Do not sit in an arrogant seat.
Human arrogance is far from humility. A man named Kei spoke of arrogance as a ridiculer of the idea of religious duty. Such a person mocks the religious life and insists on committing evil. Those who oppose God and ridicule God's people are arrogant. Even if we go up to the monastery to avoid arrogant people during our lifetime, we meet arrogant people there too. The arrogant are not necessarily outside the church. It can be anywhere in the church. Therefore, arrogance enters and leaves the human heart and makes fun of people. They break peace, destroy order, and constantly display things that are not related to the righteousness of God. Arrogance is a characteristic of those who are far from the Lord's instruction to take up their cross and follow me.
Evil gradually expands in our minds little by little. One sin subsumes another sin, and eventually it is combined with various sins to get into great trouble. It's a bit of a bluff, but there is a saying that 'the spider webs made by Indian spiders are so strong that sometimes people get caught in them too.' Even if the thoughts of an evil man are small, invisible as a spider's web, he must realize that the thin line of sin finally binds him into the abyss of death.
David, the man of God, compares the way of the wicked with the way of the righteous in the last years of his life, and he recalls the blessing God gave to the way of the righteous. David remembered, above all, the rebellion of his son Absalom. He overcame the indiscriminate attacks of King Saul several times, and overcame the rudeness of the Philistines with faith. But Absalom's rebellion was truly heartbreaking. After all, when he died, did he cry out, 'I'd rather be dead... my son Absalom!'
The incidents of intercepting the people's judgment on behalf of the father and stealing the hearts of the people, or sleeping with concubines on the roof of the palace in broad daylight, were extraordinary no matter how much I thought about it. His mistaken wisdom is that a copyist is with him. Ahithophel! He was a servant who had previously worked with David. But now he was on Absalom's side, controlling Absalom. David, a man of God, prayed to God. 'Please make the wisdom of Ahithophel foolish' (2 Samuel 17:23).
God hung Absalom's fine hair on an oak tree, and David's general Joab pierced Absalom with a spear and died (2 Samuel 18:).
I beseech you in the name of the Lord that you do not stand in the path of sinners. Sometimes we envy the way of the wicked. He does not envy the prosperity of the wicked. It is no exaggeration to say that they have been involved in the evil path. But now, I want you to stand on the path of the blessed. Evil must be abandoned even in its shape. In his epistle to Ephesians, Paul says, 'We are his workmanship. created in Christ Jesus for good works' (Ephesians 2:10).
What kind of person is a blessed person?
Those who delight and meditate on the law of the Lord.
The law is the law of Moses. More broadly, it is the Word of God. What do you enjoy? You will remember what happened when Jesus stopped at Bethany. Martha was busy preparing the food. But Mary sat at the feet of the Lord and watched his mouth. loved to listen. When we think about it, both Martha and Mary must have been pleased with the Lord and took him home. But the Lord commended Mary for choosing this good thing.
1996 I hope that this year will be a year in which all members of the church can enjoy the law. In Revelation 1:3 it is written, "Blessed are those who read and hear the words of this prophecy, and those who keep what is written in them, for the time is near." If you want to be blessed, read the Word diligently (failed to read 500). Reading the Bible is the basis of life of faith. 1996 May this year be blessed with your ears. A mature person is a person who can listen well to others. Even a talented person is a person who can listen well to others. If you do not listen well to others, you will not be able to communicate properly. Listening also has to do with obedience. Obedience begins with listening. Who will go for me Isaiah? When he was called, he answered, 'I am here, send me.'
Those who enjoy hearing the Word also enjoy obeying the Word. The story of Cornelius is so moving the more you hear it. He was a foreigner. But he obeyed what he said in the vision. They brought the apostle Peter, and as they listened to his commands, the power of the Holy Spirit came upon all who heard the word. If you enjoy listening to the Word, you will also receive the experience of the Holy Spirit as an added bonus.
David wanted to bring the Ark of the Covenant, which had stayed at Obed-edom's house for three months, to Jerusalem. It was a decision I made when I saw Obed-edom being blessed. He stayed in Abinadab's house for 20 years, but he did not receive any blessings. But Obed-edom served fire and three months, but he was blessed. Believing for a long time does not mean you will be blessed. Have fun and believe it. I hope that your life of faith will be filled with joy.
Like a tree planted by a stream!
A tree planted by streams of water bears fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. Those who delight in the law of the Lord and meditate on it day and night prosper in all things. But the wicked are like chaff blown by the wind, the poet says. The wicked cannot overcome God's judgment and come to destruction. The way of the wicked is not the way the Lord approves. From now on, I hope that you will enjoy the word of God and live a blessed life by following the one and only Jesus.
On a cold day, the story of the geese suits you.
A flock of geese was flying in the sky. The geese, who had been going for a while, stopped by a rest area for a while. The quiet farmhouse was inhabited by house geese. I was hanging out with them and sharing food. After a while, I heard the conductor's voice telling me to leave. But one of them, the geese, could not overcome their sleepiness and stumbled. It seems that I was hungry. Fellow geese urged him and said,
"If you can't fly now, you can't fly forever!"
"Come on, get up! You have to get up!"
The geese were tired from flying a long way, and they were hungry. Since I had already landed, I had an idea to spend this cold winter comfortably here and to follow my colleagues as they passed this road again. Another geese stayed for a few more days and said hello to fellow geese to go first, thinking that they would follow after.
In fact, flying in the air for several days was tiring. He flew day and night, and was sometimes attacked by enemies. He thought that it would be better to live among the geese and eat and drink comfortably without much effort. Farm life with geese was very enjoyable. Most of all, it was nice to be able to eat and sleep without having to work hard. However, as the seasons changed, boredom came to the repetitive life of complacency. There was no satisfaction. Just then, the voices of colleagues were heard from heaven. Hearing the chatter of his colleagues from afar, he said, 'Now is the time to leave.' I thought. Waiting for his comrades to come near, he spread his wings with all his might. He wanted to fly in the sky. But unfortunately he couldn't fly. While I was eating and drinking comfortably, my body became too heavy. I tried two or three more times, but the goose's body had already forgotten to flap its wings.
David clearly knew from experience what the path of the blessed would be at the end of his life. Blessed are those who delight in the law of the Lord rather than with the wicked and meditate on it day and night. David rejoiced in the word of the Lord, so he awoke before the night was deep and meditated day and night. He declared the Word of God to be 'a lamp to my feet and a light to my path'. He was enlisted as a very valuable guide on his life path. We must humble human reason under the word of God. Anything we value more than the Word of God will only wear out our lives and lead us down the road to destruction.
Let's have a New Year's Effort to walk the path of righteousness approved by God! David says from experience that this is the way of the blessed.
