Title Blessed Servant

Content Title: Blessed Servant

Bible: Luke 12; 35-43

In the text, the attitude of the saints waiting for the Lord's return should be taught through the parable of the attitude of a servant waiting for the master to return from the wedding house. In particular, in verses 35 and 36, the Lord told us to become like a man waiting to be opened as soon as the master returns and knocks on the door, girded around his waist and lit a lamp. If you look at the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30, there are good and faithful servants who are faithful over little things and can entrust them with more, while there are evil, lazy, and useless servants who have been deprived of what they have. Then, we want to receive grace by sharing the word about what kind of servant is the servant who is greatly used by the master.

First: Those who work hard for the Lord.

“Girl around your waist, put your belt around your waist, light a lamp, and stand, and be like men waiting for their master to open the door when he returns from a wedding and knocks” (verses 35, 36). The barrel was wide. So when I was working, traveling, or in wartime, I had to fasten my outerwear with a belt. To have a belt on the waist here means that you are already ready to work and are currently working with your belt on, and you are thoroughly preparing to meet the owner returning from the wedding house.

Second: We must be filled with the Holy Spirit.

“Girl around your waist, gird your loins, light a lamp, and stand; be like men waiting for their master to open the door when he returns from a wedding and knocks” (verses 35, 36). One thing meant keep the lights on. To keep the lamp on, you need to have enough oil on the lamp. Because if there is no oil in the lamp, the fire goes out. To become a servant who is greatly used by the Lord, you must always be filled with the oil of the Holy Spirit. The purpose of lighting the lamp is to welcome the owner who has been waiting for him to continue working even after dark.

Third: Those who are faithful to their duties.

“Who is a wise and faithful steward, said the Lord, who will give his master over the servants of his household, distributing food in due season? Blessed is that servant, when his master arrives and finds him doing this.” (verses 42, 43) Here, it is said that the wise and true steward is one who distributes food in due season. In other words, a wise and sincere steward is one who does not waste and uses the food entrusted to him by the owner appropriately by distributing it according to each person's needs. In order to become a servant who is greatly used by the Lord, each of us must faithfully carry out our duties in the church.
