Numbers 6:22-27, 2 Corinthians 13:13
1. Introduction
Today's text is a blessing prayer quoted by pastors from the Old and New Testaments during the last rite of worship every Sunday. Pastors usually quote '2 Corinthians 13:13', but sometimes 'Numbers 6:22-27'. I will read the text.
* Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, "Bless you this way for the sake of the children of Israel, saying, May the LORD bless you and keep you, and may the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you. However, many believers mistakenly believe that “祝福權” is reserved only for priests, pastors, priests, people with special gifts, or family heads. The truth is not that. Everyone who believes, regardless of age or sex, has the right to be blessed. There are too many people who give up on this tremendous privilege because they “don’t know” or “how dare someone like me” feel inferior. Restore the blessing and do it. So bless you!.
second. So, what will you bless? First of all, bless a person. Bless your children, bless your wives, bless your husbands, bless your parents (Proverbs 30:11). Bless you before saying ‘Do this’ or ‘Do not do that’. Hold them in your arms, place your hands on your head, hold your hands, bless you at your bedside or in secret. Bless even your enemies (Luke 6:28). Why? It is because He said that if I am not a great person to receive an empty blessing, the blessing will come back to me (Matthew 10:13).
And in the Old Testament, it is said that you will receive blessings from your body - land - livestock, as well as baskets and bowls of bread dough (Deuteronomy 28:2-6). Jesus also blessed a couple of fish (Mark 8:7)- He took bread and blessed it (Mark 14:22). So bless you for your work - your children's studies - your mission - the missionary work of the church. third. There is one important thing to keep in mind when giving a blessing. It is to bless wisely. Proverbs says, “To bless a neighbor with a loud voice early in the morning, it will be counted as a curse” (Proverbs 27:14). What does it mean? It is to bless according to the time-place-situation-case. Not only that, but the strength and weakness of your voice - facial expression - clothing - manners - is to bless you with a sincere heart.
If clear wine is poured into the crumpled couture, is that a blessing? A check for 1 million won is 'Old! If you throw it, is it a blessing? A blessing that is not equipped with the utmost sincerity even if it contains a true heart is not a blessing but a curse. It is a true blessing when you express your true heart (content) with utmost sincerity (form).
