Word: One of the jobs that young people envy these days is bodyguard. It's really cool to be a bodyguard for celebrities in the political or business world or to protect them safely. About 15 years ago, an American movie titled ‘The Bodyguard’ was released in Korea and was a success. The sight of a great bodyguard protecting a popular singer made the hearts of many women flutter.
However, no matter how good a bodyguard provides security, human security is always incomplete. President Park Chung-hee of Korea and President Kennedy of the United States, who would have received the best security at the time, were assassinated.
The Bible tells the story of Elisha and his servants who received complete security.
Elisha was a prophet of power who knew in advance the secret plan of the king of Syria to invade Israel and communicated it to the king of Israel. So, the wars against Israel by the kings of Syria always failed. In the end, the king of Syria used the night to capture Elisha and mobilized a huge number of soldiers, horses and carts to completely surround the city of Dothan, where he was staying, without a leak. When Elisha got up in the morning and saw Elisha's servants completely surrounded, they were afraid. But even after hearing the story, Elisha speaks confidently. “Do not be afraid. Those who are with us are more than those who are with them” (verse 16).
And Elisha prayed to God to open the servant's eyes and see him. What eyes are you talking about? It is to open the servant's eyes of faith. It was a prayer to be able to see God's protection. Then the servant's eyes saw that the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire. Elisha and his servants were under the perfect protection of God. Sometimes I think I'm alone in danger. However, if we open our eyes of faith, we will meet God, who is our bodyguard. God is the one who always has a leak-free bodyguard to protect us from the attacks of Satan and all the dangers of this world.
Prayer: God, open the eyes of faith to see God, my bodyguard. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
