Title Causes of laziness

cause of laziness

Text/ Romans 12:11

1. Introduction

In the last lesson Moses gave to the people of Israel, looking across the land of Canaan flowing with milk and honey from the land of Moab on the east side of the Jordan, Moses said, “Behold, I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today, because I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live” (Deuteronomy 30:15-20). Life and blessings come from diligence, and curses and death come from laziness. Will everyone always choose diligence? Will you choose to be lazy? We have no choice but to stand at the crossroads of choice. We see here that Moses adamantly said, “Now choose life!” It should be remembered that we are urging you to abandon laziness and choose diligence.

The definition of laziness in the dictionary is an attitude of life in which thinking and acting are sluggish, and working-thinking is bothersome, insignificant, and disliked. Also, laziness is not just idle-laughing-rolling-aesthetic, but also living a lukewarm, meaningless, day-to-day life without any change even though you should do something that shouldn't be done, constantly procrastinating the decisions you need to make quickly, Giving up on a challenge while having the ability to do enough is laziness. Thus, the state in which life energy - passion - zeal - challenge consciousness - sincerity is reduced or scattered is laziness.

2. Types of excuses for lazy people

The writer of Proverbs said, “A lazy man is wiser in his own eyes than seven who give a good answer” (Proverbs 26:13-16). Lazy people are always the best excuses.

*Lazy people pretend to be prudent. I don't know yet, it's not perfect yet, if it fails, it's a big deal, so I suggest that we think about it a little more and think more carefully before making a decision. *Lazy people are obsessed with pleasure in front of important things. There is still time left, so I'm just playing until today, and starting tomorrow, I'm really going to do it. This is often the case with people who are addicted (alcohol, drugs, gambling, shopping, sex, tobacco, etc.). All they say is, “Just!” “Just for today!”, “Just for one drink!”, “For just this one time!” *Lazy people emphasize last-minute fighting spirit - last minute efficiency - closing effect. It is said that work is something that is supposed to be done when it happens, and it is said that it is done in a rush rather than in a pinch. *Lazy people pretend to be smart. It is said that work has to be done with leisure, work has its time, life is futile, everything is just that. *Lazy people blame others for their laziness. My family history says yes, that kind of thing is not my taste, the situation was not the situation for the job. *Lazy people demean themselves by saying that I am not capable, and that I am ugly.

3. Just as there is no effect without a cause, there are many causes of laziness.

first. It is a physical illness. When you are sick, everything is a hassle. Endocrine diseases such as chronic fatigue syndrome, liver disease, anemia, thyroid gland and diabetes. Depression, emotional disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder (washing and washing even if it's not dirty, pursuing perfection by checking standards, spelling, spelling, etc. even when filling out simple documents, habit of wasting time on meticulous work on rough tasks, etc.), interpersonal relationships Maladaptation, early schizophrenia, etc. If you feel that you are lazy, you should check yourself for any physical illness.

second. Learned helplessness. It is a phenomenon in which, like the elephants of India, they grow up tied to iron stakes from a young age, and even if they become an adult elephant with the power to pull iron stakes, they do not even try to pull iron stakes. This phenomenon often applies to humans as well.

*When you were not loved when you were young, and you grew up in disrespect and contempt, and you don’t know how to love or be loved even after you become an adult. Students, *If you failed several important exams in your life, so you show anxiety, nervousness, and rejection even when you hear the word, *If you have poor interpersonal relationships due to multiple failures in relationships, etc.

In other words, because of the learned helplessness resulting from negative experiences in the past, they lose the sense of challenge and don't even try, saying, "I can't, try, mana, that's how I was born, it's useless!" It is fearful of saying that and giving up the skills, abilities, and talents that are within you like an Indian elephant from the beginning. Therefore, learned helplessness must be converted into learned defiantness.

third. It is a negative outlook on life. The difference between the positive view of life, “Life is worth living!” and the negative view of life, which says, “I hate money, fame, and love in the world after death anyway” is the difference between heaven and earth. There are always hurdles to overcome in a better life. A positive outlook on life encourages us to overcome that hurdle. Negative outlook on life is what you do beyond that hurdle. However, the Bible fundamentally proclaims a positive outlook on life.
