Title Change it / John 2:1-11

Contents Today's text refers to the miracle of Jesus turning water into wine when the important wine ran out at a wedding feast in Cana, and it tells what kind of power Jesus is.

1. Change is a miracle (verses 9-10)

According to today's text, there was a shortage of wine at the wedding feast in Cana, and Jesus works a miracle by changing water into wine.

What does 'change' mean?

These are words used when something entirely different, something better, something new.

When we are changed, our joy is so great (verse 10). When we look at this fact, we can see how great the difference is between being changed and not being changed.

I hope that there will be wonderful blessings that change and become better for you today as well.

What does the bible say?

(Romans 12:2) Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good and pleasing and perfect will of God.

① You must change.

you are people

People have to change. An unbeliever changes and becomes a believer, a wicked person changes and becomes a good man, a servant of the devil becomes a servant of God, a powerless person becomes a person of power, a person of disobedience becomes a person of change and a person of obedience, and a person who is lukewarm As a zealous and passionate person, the person who pursues the earthly things must change into the person who pursues the heavenly things.

What a blessing it is to be like this. Pray that you will be changed like this. Pray for each of your family members to be like that.

② that the mind must be changed

What should change?

It's not just a matter of changing a few external behaviors. The fundamentals must be change. It must be a change of heart.

Our people's hearts are born as beings who cannot do good 100% from the moment they are born.

So the Bible tells us about people

(Ephesians 2:1) He made you, who were dead in your trespasses and sins, alive.

We are dead in trespasses and sins. With these minds, you cannot do it right away. Unless the heart, which is stained with sin and stained with earthly things, is fundamentally changed, man cannot fully practice. So, for nothing, they hate, envy, jealous, unforgiving, and do evil. Therefore, the mind must be changed.

that the mind is changed

means that the owner changes.

All people have been occupying them since birth, and the evil devil is occupying them with the price of sin. the devil is the master However, when we believe in the event of redemption accomplished by Jesus, the devil is cast out and Jesus becomes the master.

You must wash away the hearts stained with sin with the Holy Spirit.

Doing this work of letting out our old disposition through the Word and prayer and filling us with the disposition of God is a new change of heart.

③ Only then can we discern what is the good and pleasing will of God.

We cannot do the things that please God unless we change our hearts. When your heart is changed, you will do the good things of God and do the things that please God.

In the early 1700s, there was a young man in England who was always blaming others for his uncomfortable circumstances and doing swearing. Then he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and became a different person. Instead of cursing, he praised and instead of cursing, he loved. Above all, he witnessed to his neighbors the conversion and change he had experienced. Even that was not enough, he traveled all over England to preach the gospel, and in the midst of poor transportation, he went to the United States seven times to preach and lead 70,000 people to Christ. This is the great English preacher George Whitfield.

2. It cannot be changed by human strength, only God can do it.

The core of today's text speaks of the power of God to change. What does it mean when water is changed into wine? As a human being you can't But it shows that God does.

(Mark 10:27) Jesus looked at them and said to them, "With men this is impossible, but not with God. For with God all things are possible."

(Zechariah 4:6) And he spoke to me, saying, These are the words of the LORD to Zerubbabel, saying to the LORD of hosts, It is not by might, not by might, but by my god.

Yes. A person cannot change a person's heart. not by human power. Can you change the hearts of children, the hearts of husbands, and the hearts of unbelieving parents? none. Can not be done. Not as a man, but as a God.

The transformation of Zacchaeus in Luke 19 (19:1-10)

(Luke 19:8) Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord, I will give half of what I have to the poor, and I will come back, and if I have extorted anyone, I will repay you fourfold."

Zacchaeus is not like that. The power of men could not change Zacchaeus. But our Lord changed Zacchaeus' greedy and hardened heart and made him a new person.

Saul's transformation in 1 Samuel 19

(1 Samuel 19:23) And Saul went to Naioth in Ramah, and the Spirit of God came upon him as well, and he continued and prophesied in Naioth in Ramah.

(1 Samuel 19:24) He also took off his robe and prophesied before Samuel, and lay all day and night naked.

He sent his servants to kill David, but after failing twice, he went to catch David himself. However, while he was going to arrest David in Naioth in Ramah, he was captured by the Spirit of God, prophesied, and the life he had sought to arrest disappeared, and he became an innocent man.

It is impossible with man, but with God it is possible. God does it. So, are you discouraged and discouraged by the presence of your unchanging self or your unchanging family? Believe that only the Lord can change. Trust the Lord to change.

Furthermore, the Lord can change anything.

The transformation of water into wine shows that the Lord can change anything. It is not just the human mind that can change.

The Lord changes even the worst circumstances.

(Genesis 50:20) You intended to harm me, but God changed it for good, so that as it is today, the lives of all people might be saved.

It is the God who changed Joseph's evil environment into a good one.

(Matthew 8:26) Jesus said to him, "Why are you afraid, you of little faith?" Immediately he got up and rebuked the wind and the sea, and there was a great calm.

He is the God who calms the wind and the sea.

(Acts 16:24) And when he received this spirit, he imprisoned them in a deep prison, and filled their feet with garters.

(Acts 16:25) About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and praising God, and the prisoners listened.

God is the one who transforms the prison situation into the heavenly situation.

3. Pray for the changing blessings.

Do you want to change yourself? Do you want people in your family to change? Do you want the environment to change? If so, let's take a look at the secret in today's text.

① Pray (verse 3)

(John 2:3) Because they ran out of wine, Jesus' mother said to him, "They have no wine."

You must tell the Lord what needs to be changed. To pray is to believe that I cannot do it on my own, only the Lord does. Let the Lord do it.

②Be obedient to the word (verses 7-8)

(John 2:7) Jesus said to them, "Fill the jars with water."

(John 2:8) Now, he said, “Take it to the banquet hall.

When we listen to and obey God's Word, we can see that God changes us in the process of pouring water out of the jar.

As we listen and obey the Word, God will transform our hearts and raise us up as His people. When you believe and obey the Word, God will raise you up to better things.
