1, a crippled man supported
Since he was born lame, he was unable to walk on his own. A person who is carried by others. Jews have a habit of going up to the temple to pray three times a day. Peter and John were going to the temple to pray during the ninth o'clock (3 pm) prayer time, and a wonderful miracle happened. At the temple's beautiful gate, a lame man was begging for people going in and out. The crippled man's only base of life was the beautiful gate of the temple. Because he was physically handicapped, he could not do anything on his own, and even the disabled had to eat, wear, and live, so he took the beautiful gate of the temple as the base of his life, where he could be sympathized relatively easily. On that day, like any other day, he met Peter and John while earnestly begging for the many people who came in and out of the temple.
However, this crippled man cannot move without the support of others. Days, months, and years went by and nothing changed. Any individual or group that does not change like this is crippled. When it's time to stand up, you have to stand up, and when it's time to run, you have to run. However, if you cannot have such expectations and are always satisfied with reality, this is no different from a crippled person living with support.
2, the cripple begging
Although crippled, they begged because they had to eat. Because he cannot work on his own, he is begging at the beautiful gate of the temple, which is relatively crowded. First of all, the problem of eating was urgent, and I couldn't find anything better than that. Had this crippled man sought something better, health, he might have already been healed. However, he was always occupied with the complacency of reality. But, dear saints, who is this crippled beggar referring to? You must know that you are yourself. This is because, despite the fact that we must seek God's will and receive God's blessing, today we are focused on eating, wearing, and living. "Seek ye first the kingdom and its righteousness," but we are seeking only the perishable earth, so we are saying that we are not crippled.
Of course, while living, there must be bread for the body, but humans do not live by bread alone. We must listen to the word of God. There are many breads (food) for the body in this land to come, but there are not many who seek the word of God. So the society we live in is chaotic. After the people's government was established, seeing the eradication of injustice and corruption prevalent in every corner of society, we feel that we have lived a life of begging by humans. Dear all! Even if our past was a life of begging, it must be changed now. And you have to grow. The crippled man in today's text has been living with help from others, but he has not been able to help others. But a healthy person should be able to serve the lives of others. Likewise, healthy and normal believers should be able to share the grace they have received with others. Now, we too should pay attention to our neighbors and groups in need of our help.
3, a person who walks and runs
Peter and John passed in front of the lame begging. Even at this time, the crippled man was still begging. Peter and John said to the lame, "Look at us." The lame man looked at Peter and John, wondering what he would get. "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I have I give to you, in the name of Jesus of Nazareth, walk," he said. But strangely it happened. A miracle happened. People who have never walked before are able to walk and run by their own strength. What an amazing change. But if we analyze the meaning of Peter's words that made this lame walk,
The first is, ?쏬ook at us.??These words focus the minds of the disabled. When we focus completely on Jesus, we experience a wonderful transformation.
The second is, ?쏻alk in the name of Jesus Christ.??A miracle happened when the minds of the disabled were brought closer to Jesus Christ and met. The power of Jesus Christ is the ability to make anything possible, not only for this patient but for anyone.
As we too are people who have been saved by Jesus Christ, we should walk, jump, and praise with that burning emotion and heart. This is what those who have been saved look like. Since we too have been saved by God's grace, we hope that our lives will be changed in the Lord by seeking and faithfulness with all our might.
