Contents
Hymn: 460 "What I've Been So Far"
The call to worship: Ephesians 3:20-21
Confession of Faith: Apostles' Creed
Prayer: in the family
Text: Psalm 127:1-5
Key Verse: “Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain; unless the LORD guards the city, the watchman keeps watch in vain” (Psalm 127:1).
Word: Based on the words of Psalm 127, we will share God's grace with everyone in our family gathered for the Mid-Autumn Festival. It is a great blessing to live serving God the Creator. Because God has promised to bless those who seek and worship Him. Today's verse teaches us three lessons.
The first is that God is the master of life. No matter how hard a person puts his or her efforts, it can all be in vain. Unexpected terminal illnesses or terrible accidents can happen to anyone. Buying insurance and depositing in the bank is to protect your life from the unexpected. However, not all human efforts are perfect. When the Lord builds the house, the house is strong, and when the Lord protects the city, the city is safe.
The second lesson is about true blessing. The most precious blessing that God gives is to get fruit as much as you put in your hard work. Even if it sounds like a good deal, in fact, it often ruins people. If your efforts bear fruit as much as you put in, there is nothing to be grateful for. The fruits of sweat make people happy. I hope that every family in our family will be blessed with the fruits of their hard work.
The third teaching is about the blessing of children. Children are said to be God's reward. In the old days, having many children was the strength of the family. Although the customs have changed these days, it is still the strength and honor of the family and family to raise their children well and make them into good people. We will have to work hard to educate our children so that all children who grow up in our family can grow up to be excellent with the right religious values. We must nurture them to become pillars of the church community and to be leaders in society. In particular, we need to raise our children so that they do not live for themselves, but trust God and help others.
There is a Korean saying, “No more, no less, just be the same.” It's a good season. We should confess and give thanks to God for protecting and guiding all our families so far.
Prayer: God, the owner of our family, fill us with the necessary materials and let our children grow well. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
