Text: Matthew 25:14-30
Today's text is known as the parable of the talents.
When a man went to a foreign country, he called his servants and entrusted them with his possessions, and he entrusted them with an amount that they could afford according to their talents and abilities. To one servant five talents, to another two talents, and to another one talent each. A talent is not originally a unit of money, but a unit used for weighing. A talent of gold weighs about 34 kg, which was a large sum of 6,000 denarii in money at that time. Considering that one denarius is the daily wage of a worker, one talent was a huge amount that had to be earned without spending more than 15 years. The man (verse 14), the owner (verse 19), who had entrusted such a large sum of money, was Jesus. Jesus has entrusted each of us with a level of mission that we can handle according to our talents and abilities. However, some servants were loyal and good, while others were lazy and evil.
Dear saints!
Did you do your best in everything you did this year? Were you particularly loyal to the Lord's work? Then you are a good servant. But if you spend the year with a lazy, excusing, and buried servant, wouldn't you be rebuked for being an evil and lazy servant? As in today's text, the Lord is accounting (accounting, clearing) with us as well. Of course, what the text means is not the story of a few pennies, but what did that man do when Jesus returns, when we leave this world and stand before the judgment seat of the Lord? It means you will be repaid for what you have done. That is the calculation, that is the settlement, and that is the judgment.
Let's say we are given five talents. One talent is 6,000 denarii, so five talents is 30,000 denarii. Now, based on 100,000 won per day, that's 3 billion won.
I would like to apply this to the five important elements of the Christian life.
The first talent is the Sunday holy water.
One talent is 6,000 denarii × 50,000 won per day = 300 million won. How precious is the holy water on Sunday? It is worth more than 3 billion. Even if you miss a Sunday and have the opportunity to earn 300 million won, you must give up your money and do holy water on Sundays. If you have sacrificed yourself for the past year (52 weeks) with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength, you have left one more talent, and this year's Sunday Holy Water part can be said to have been successful. I hope you have a great Sunday next year as well.
The second talent is prayer life.
Jesus prayed and told us to pray. Prayer is the strength and power to overcome the temptations of the devil. To be honest, Jesus doesn't even have to pray. Because he is the Son of Almighty God. But we must watch and pray. Because the devil is looking for an opportunity to devour. Everyone, if you worked hard to become a person of prayer like Daniel did last year, you did very well. You have become one who has one more talent left, and it can be said that this year's prayer life part was successful. I hope the early morning prayer and all-night prayer meeting will be successful next year.
The third talent is to tite.
I am well aware that our members are working hard to tit. At least it can be said that the one who pays tithing is the one who loves the Lord. In Matthew 6:14, we see that Jesus also exhorts us to love God more than wealth, saying, “You cannot serve both God and money.” Then why should we tithe? ① Because it belongs to God (Mal 3:8-10). ② Because it is the seed of blessing (Mal 3:10-12). ③ Because you can give your heart to the Lord (Matthew 6:21). Those who diligently tithe throughout the year are those who have left one more talent from the third talent, so God's blessings will increase.
The fourth talent is evangelism.
Sheep give birth once or twice a year, with a litter of 1-2. The Lord Jesus said that the shepherd is the shepherd and the saints are the sheep (John 10:11), so we must give birth to lambs in spring and autumn a year. In other words, we must evangelize. At least two or three people must evangelize. If you do not evangelize, you will be rebuked by the master for the talents you have buried in the ground. However, if you do evangelism, you will be praised by the owner as a talent that leaves a profit.
The fifth talent is service, service, and dedication.
In the church, it is not exalted, but humbled. Jesus said. do you want to be high? should be lowered Do you want to be served? He said to be a servant. Do you want to go further and be loved? It is to be loved. If there are more people like this, it will become a more cozy church, and on the other hand, it will rise! I will be welcomed! I will be loved! I will be recognized! If there are more people doing it, somehow the church becomes cold. Us
