Title: Come and see

Text: John 1:35-51

This shows how important it is for us to bring people to church.

The text shows how three disciples came to Jesus.

How do people come to Jesus?

I. I come because I preach Jesus.

When John the Baptist saw Jesus passing by and told his disciples, “That is the Lamb of God,” Andrew and the other disciple followed Jesus. This shows how important it is for us to open our mouths and testify of the Lord. Not everyone will come to church as soon as Andrew did by opening their mouths to preach Jesus. However, when Jesus is preached, even later, believing works can happen.

The Lord asked Andrew, "What do you seek?" (verse 38) when Andrew followed the Lord. It means “Why do you want to follow me?” The first time you come to Jesus, you may come for a number of reasons. However, at least once, you must seriously consider these questions, such as “Why do I go to church?” and “Why do I believe in Jesus?”. Because this is a question about the nature of faith.

Why do you believe in Jesus? Because Jesus is the truth. I believe in Jesus to be saved and live right.

Believe in Jesus and become a better husband and a better wife. Be a better son, a better daughter. I hope you become a better employee.

II. I come to you because I will come and bring you.

Andrew went to Jesus and spent time with him, and then found out that Jesus was the Messiah. After discovering a wonderful truth, he went to his brother Peter and brought him to Jesus.

As soon as the Lord saw Peter, he changed his name from Simon to Peter. The Lord knew right away that Peter was a person who would do the rock-like work with the rock-like faith, so He changed his name. Peter, whom Andrew personally brought with him, became Jesus' chief disciple. When Peter cried out once on the day of Pentecost, 3,000 people repented.

Who knows if the one I personally brought with me will be the second Peter? It's my job to go and bring him back, and it's up to the Lord to make him the second Peter or someone else. Everyone just has to do their own thing.

III. If you have any doubts, bring them along.

Philip told Nathanael, not knowing the Bible well, “I have found the Messiah. Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph, is the Messiah.” But the problem is that Nathanael knew the Bible better than Philip. Nathanael said, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” When Nathanael objected, Philip had nothing to say. So he said, “Come and see.” He came to Jesus with skepticism after receiving the clumsy evangelism of Philip, who did not know the Bible.

Seeing him, Jesus said, “Look, you are an Israelite! There is no deceit in it.” Nathanael said, “How do you know me?” The Lord said, “When you were under the fig tree, you saw it already.” I realized that the one who knows everything inside and knows where he has been is the true Messiah. Nathanael came with doubts, but when she met Jesus, that changed.

There are many ways to come to Jesus. But most importantly, today we invite our friends, relatives and neighbors to “come and see”. Then the Lord will do the rest.
