Title Come! John 1:43-51
Today, ahead of next week's 'Invitation of 10,000 people', we want to receive grace with the slogan written in the text, 'Come,' as a powerful expression of evangelism, as Philip preached to Nathanael.
1) We do not have a strong urge to evangelize, nor do we intend to speak.
2) I don't know what to say
3) We do not know that evangelism is our job.
4) It is because they have forgotten the root of the power of evangelism.
Philip in the text has many identical names in the Bible, but the characteristics of the disciples Philip and the deacons were that their lives were in evangelism. The name Philip comes from the meaning of 'I love you', and it seems that the basic basis of those who need to evangelize is to come from a heart of love. That is, evangelism is based on love. 1) Giving is evangelism, 2) saving is evangelism, and 3) loving is evangelism.
When we love unbelieving souls and give them salvation through Jesus Christ, evangelism is to save souls from destruction, which are more precious than the world.
1. The object of evangelism
The objects of evangelism in the Bible can be classified into five categories.
1) Brotherhood Evangelism (John 1:40-42)
“One of the two men who heard John’s words and followed Jesus, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, and he first looked for Simon his brother and said, ‘We have found the Messiah… Simon, who is to be called Guevara.”
When I brought my unbelieving brother, Peter, to Jesus, Jesus chose him to become a disciple.
2) Evangelism to relatives (John 1:45)
Philip found Nathanael and said, "We have found the man whom Moses wrote in the law, and the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." How important is evangelism to co-workers or unbelieving relatives?
3) Evangelism to the family (1 Timothy 5:8)
Anyone who does not take care of his relatives, especially his family, has betrayed the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. At this opportunity, those who do not believe in my family will have to evangelize and lead them to God.
4) Evangelism to neighbors (Ezekiel 3:4-6)
“Son of man, go to the house of Israel and tell them in my words, for I am not sending you to a country that speaks a different language or is difficult to understand, which you will not understand. If I had sent you to them, they would have listened to you.”
We must share the gospel with our people. How much did Paul love his people? In Romans 10:1, he says, “Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God is for Israel, that they may be saved.” We, too, must diligently preach the gospel for the evangelization of this nation.
5) Evangelism to Gentiles (Acts 9:15)
"Go," said the Lord. "This man is my chosen vessel to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel." He emphasized the will. Also, 96-97% of the 3.6 billion people in the Gentile regions and especially in Asia, excluding believers who make up only 3-4%, will have to preach the gospel to those who do not know God.
2. Contents of Evangelism
What should we preach when we evangelize?
1) We must preach God's love (John 3:16-17).
“For God so loved the world... He said that God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through him. God's greatest love is that he gave his only begotten Son. Jesus himself spoke of the purpose of his coming. Luke 19:19 says, “The Son of Man came to seek and save the lost.” And Matthew 9:13 says, “I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” The Lord came to seek the lost from God because of sin and to give us life and to have it more abundantly by forsaking the Lord's life, so this is great love and unfathomable love. It is the best love. I must convey this.
2) It is to preach the salvation of God (1 Peter 1:8-9).
You have not seen Jesus, but you love him. Even though we can't see it now, we believe and rejoice, because in the end of our faith, our souls are saved. Evangelism is the preaching of salvation.
3) It is to preach the gospel of God (Ephesians 1:3).
bless you May the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ bless us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. The fact that you receive the gospel and believe in Jesus is a blessing from God. What is a blessing? There is a spiritual blessing that you receive as soon as you believe, and it is shared with the material blessings that are given in your life as you believe. What blessing did the Apostle Paul say? Ephesians 1:18 It is said, “Open the eyes of your heart..” In faith, the eyes of your heart are opened. Blessings are given to these people.
a. It is the blessing of hope you have called. It shows how great the blessing of hope that God gives to those who live by faith by calling us into Jesus.
b. It is a rich blessing of corporate glory. This is also a blessing to believe only in Jesus. It is a blessing to receive the riches of an enterprise that is not difficult and incorruptible.
c. It is a blessing of great power. The power of creation given in God, this is given to the evangelizing saints through their mouths. Evangelism is God's love, God's salvation, and God's blessing.
3. Method of Evangelism
What would be the method of evangelism?
1) Come on
This is the most basic method, and it is the simplest and easiest way for believers to lead unbelievers to God and to meet Jesus Christ. Come to our church, come Jesus Christ, come and see the field of blessing, come and see the Lord where I am
2) Believe
Trust me some time has passed. Then you will surely know why you believe. When the sick, discouraged, losers, and frustrated people believe that faith does not hit the air, it is not a path without direction, it is not a chasing wind, but the purpose of God's power to achieve its purpose. As evangelists, we come to know the living God by believing in the Lord rather than trying to give.
3) Taste
It is to experience the Holy Spirit, the honey-like taste of God's true salvation. Therefore, we must come and taste the joy of salvation that God has given us.
* Stages of evangelism
1) Go to all nations (Matthew 28:19) - Evangelism
This is the basis of the faith of believers who believe in Jesus through evangelism.
2) Make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19) - Discipleship
It does not end with church registration, but we need to train those who have been evangelized to make disciples.
3) Teach them to keep what they have been commanded (Matthew 28:20) - Make faith
We must continue to pay attention to the evangelist so that he lives in the Word.
