Bible: Matthew 5:3-5

────────────────────────────

As we go through life, we feel that time passes very quickly. It can be said that it is important to live this life to the fullest, to be blessed, and to have fun in this fast-flowing time.

If you look at Confucianism and Buddhism, which are traditional Korean traditions, Confucianism speaks of the five fortunes, and Buddhism says that you should be blessed by doing things that make you happy. The Gospel of Christianity In Romans 4:7-8, the Apostle Paul says, “Blessed are those whose sins we have committed are forgiven and forgiven by the Lord, and blessed are those who are not condemned.” He says that we are blessed to be able to receive forgiveness from God for our wrongdoings.

Deuteronomy 28 says, “If you keep the commandments, you will be blessed when you go in, and you will be blessed when you go out. According to Christianity, all blessings come from God. Therefore, being rich is not necessarily a blessing, but being poor is a blessing given by God.

It further states that if we have a right relationship with God, we can receive blessings from heaven, and if our relationship with God is broken, we cannot receive blessings from heaven.

Even through the Bible, we can see whether a person was blessed or cursed depending on whether he was in a right relationship with God or not.

In building a right relationship with God, today I would like to think about the poor in spirit, the mourning, and the meek, as taught by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount.

First of all, the word 'poor in spirit' is not poor because of lack of money, not poor because there is more sorrow than joy, nor is it poor because of underestimating oneself. The poor in spirit are those who have nothing to depend on in the world. The Bible speaks of the poor in spirit, referring to a life that has no one to depend on but God. We know the story of the prodigal son. The second son receives all his father's inheritance, goes to a distant country, squanders it, and then comes back home realizing that he is the only one. The father who welcomes such a son makes him a child of blessing and gives a feast.

The second son said, “Heavenly Father, I come with my hand because I have no will. I came to my father with a feeling that I have no one to depend on but you.” He accepts such a heart. Such is the heart of the poor in spirit. There are many places to depend on in this world, but when you do not set your heart on those places and just look to the Lord, the Lord will give you blessings from heaven. And He gives us the blessing of heaven where the kingdom of God is established in our hearts.

The second mourner did not understand when he met the mother who beats the wrong child, but realized the mother's love for the mother who gave her aching legs while I was sleeping and applied medicine. This is the heart of mourning. The Lord loves me constantly, but I receive that love and betray it, and I live my life unaware that I am betraying myself. At some point, I realize that love and begin to realize my mistakes. Only then will the experience of the Lord become one in me and I become one in the Lord.

Finally, the meek. The meek can speak of Moses. In Numbers 12:6 it says, “There was no one on the earth more meek than Moses.” But Moses was not originally a meek man. He was a bloody man. He was a man who killed people because he thought he was doing God's justice. After spending 40 years in the wilderness of Midian, Moses realized that it was not me who established justice, but God who established justice.

The meek are those who know how to surrender themselves completely to the Lord. “Lord, use me as you will. When you hold me with your right hand, I am held with your right hand, and when you hold me with your left hand, you hold me with your left hand.”

Ladies and gentlemen, there is only one God we can depend on. That is faith. I hope that all of you who came to worship today will become completely poor in spirit and become people of faith who depend only on the Lord and live a blessed life that God is responsible for.

As we mourn our sins of betraying God's grace, I hope that you will receive the comfort of heaven as you repent, and that God will receive the blessing of becoming one with the Lord who dwells in you. And I pray in the name of the Lord that I will completely surrender myself before the Lord, become meek and be used according to the Lord's will, and that the earth will become an inheritance and all the blessed saints who receive blessings.
