▒▒ Bible : Luke 17:11~19

In King Lear, one of Shakespeare's four dramatic plays, the king divided his kingdom among the two daughters of his three daughters, and the eldest daughter receives the first treatment he receives as a king from the eldest daughter's house, and comes out of the eldest daughter's house in a very miserable condition. There is a saying, "A child's unthankful pierces the chest sharper than a snake's sharp teeth. A new adaptation of this story would be, "The unthankful sons and daughters of God break our Heavenly Father's heart sharper than the teeth of a serpent." This lack of gratitude is an act that makes our Heavenly Father very upset and heartbroken.

The 17th chapter of Luke we read today tells the story of ten lepers. Jesus had compassion on them and healed them all, but among these ten, the one who returned to give thanks to Jesus was a Samaritan leper.

As I was reading this section, where else did Jesus express his heart so accurately? I think. Jesus is showing his great disappointment now. “Ten were healed, but where did the other nine go? Has no one returned to give thanks to me but this stranger? Where did the other nine go?” I can see what you're saying is very sad.

We have all been blessed. But the important thing is that just as all ten were healed of leprosy, we all received grace, but how many of us are thankful for this grace? is to do In the name of the Lord, I pray in the name of the Lord that we all become saints who receive the blessing of salvation as Psalm 51 says, where it is said that God will glorify God through the sacrifice of thanks and show your salvation to those who have done it right.

First, the English word ‘Thank’ comes from ‘Think’. In other words, it conveys the truth that gratitude cannot come without thinking. Dear brothers and sisters, I hope that you will give thanks after thinking about the grace you have received and realizing it. The thanksgiving in Habakkuk 3:17-19 is a very famous thanksgiving, “The fig tree does not bud, the vines produce no fruit, the olive trees produce no crop, the fields produce no food, there are no sheep in the pen, and the stall There are no cows, and everything is missing. But I will give thanks to the LORD God. He made me walk on high.” This thanksgiving is not just a secular thanksgiving. It is gratitude that comes from deep thoughts and realization. I am not thankful for the fig tree because it yields so much, nor is it that I am thankful for the abundance of sheep in the pen, nor is there much to be thankful for from a worldly point of view. This is a high-level thank you for letting me walk this holy path.

The second important thing is to be grateful. For whom were these ten lepers healed? Because of Jesus. Nine out of these ten must have gone to the priest and confirmed that they were not lepers and thanked the priest for confirming it. You have found the wrong thing to be thankful for. How bad would Jesus be? That's stupid.

We are always receiving grace from God, but aren't we giving thanks to the wrong person without giving thanks to God? The prophet Hosea rebukes the Israelites for that. “From whom did you receive your silver and gold, and from whom did you receive all your grain? Even the grain that you give to Baal and Asherah is what I gave you. How are you bowing down to idols without giving thanks to God?” The lepers in today's text are the same. All ten were healed by Jesus, but only one Samaritan came to thank Jesus for healing him.

Dear brothers and sisters, we should give thanks to God. The person we should be thankful for is our Heavenly Father. General Naaman, who had leprosy, is a good man. He was on the verge of death from leprosy, but when he came to Elisha and immersed himself in the Jordan River seven times, his body was cleansed. General Naaman tells a very important story as he returns to his homeland. “Even if I go to my homeland of Syria, I will praise and serve the God who healed me. I thank God for healing me. The land is infested with idols, and no one serves God in the land, but I will praise God.” They kissed the land of Israel and returned to their own country with dust. He clearly knew the God who had the power to heal him.

Third, gratitude must be expressed. Faith without works is dead faith. Gratitude without expression is dead gratitude. Gratitude should come immediately and give thanks, like this Samaritan leper. If you give thanks for a long time, the meaning of gratitude disappears. I hope that you will become believers who immediately give thanks for the grace you have received.

Fourth, thanksgiving should be done with humility. The Samaritan bowed down and bowed. With such a humble heart, we should give thanks to God. And I believe that gratitude should be given with all sincerity.

As we celebrate Thanksgiving today, we should all give thanks properly. Correct gratitude is giving thanks in realization, correct gratitude is knowing the object of gratitude clearly and giving thanks to it, and correct gratitude is expressing gratitude. We thank God with all our humility and sincerity, promptly and with all our heart, and enjoy the blessings of heaven as He said, “He who offers a sacrifice of thanksgiving honors me, and to him who does his deeds right, I will show him salvation.” I bless you all in the name of the Lord.
