Title Daniel's Thanksgiving/Daniel 6:5-10
Today is Thanksgiving Day. When the harvest is over, the year is effectively over. As we celebrate Thanksgiving today, it feels like the year has already passed. When the harvest season comes, I think of Millet's full bloom. There was a person who thought of three sacred things while looking at this picture. It is religion, family, and work. But adding weight to the picture is a sign of appreciation.
What does Thanksgiving mean to the Saints? It is to realize God's grace more deeply and live a life of gratitude. It is a day of deep gratitude for God's grace. We all have reasons to be grateful. As we examine Daniel's gratitude, consider how we should be thankful.
true thanks
1. Gratitude regardless of circumstances, even in hardships and in good times.
"Even knowing that the fishman was stamped" was grateful.
- Even after knowing the tribulation that is coming at the end of the peaceful era
- Even knowing that there is an enemy waiting in hiding
- Gratitude in the face of death
Christian thanksgiving
Health, wealth, and death.... We are thankful that we have bought by grace, since we have brought nothing.
Instead of resenting and complaining about what is missing, thank you for what is still there.
2. Gratitude for entrusting one's future
“Three times a day I got down on my knees and prayed as I had done before in the open window,” she thanked.
- without compromising with external watchers
- without giving in to threats
- He did not betray God to keep his position as prime minister.
Christian thanksgiving
- Giving thanks by entrusting the future to God rather than enjoying the glory of wealth
- Lord, you are free to bring disaster on me
Job's thanks
Job's wife: Curse God and die (Job 2:9)
Job's answer: If we are blessed by God, shall we not receive evil (Job 2:10).
3. Gratitude for being God's people
"Thank God for that"
- Gratitude for being God's people
- Praise God for sovereignty
Christian thanksgiving
- Gratitude that considers being God's people the greatest blessing
- Thanks for being saved by God's grace, not our work
4. God's Courtesy of Daniel's Gratitude (6:23,28)
- He did not injure his body in the slightest (6:23).
- Prosper in the coming and going generations (6:28).
I pray that you will be victorious in all adversity and problems with this kind of gratitude.
Lesson
How about our gratitude?
1. Is the audit independent of circumstances?
- People in the world like it when it goes well and complain when it doesn't. This is relative appreciation. Relative gratitude breeds relative resentment.
- Christian thanksgiving is always grateful, and in everything.
2. Is it an uncompromising audit?
God is most proud of this.
3. Are you grateful that you are a child of God?
- Gratitude for being, being grateful for being God's people.
- Our standing as children of God has not changed. Therefore, the condition of our gratitude does not change under any circumstances.
