Everyone has concerns and fears about the future. So, we work hard to prepare for the future. But Christians need not worry about the future. Because the past, present, and future are all under God's plan.
How should we prepare for an uncertain future?
1. We must meditate on the Word every day (verse 1).
After Cyrus king of Persia conquered the Babylonian Empire, God gave Daniel another vision. This is the time when some of the people of Judah returned to their homeland after the Babylonian captivity. However, Daniel did not return to his homeland, but stayed in Babylon. Then God revealed a great war to Daniel through a vision. A great war is followed by great suffering or tribulation. Israel returned from the Babylonian captivity, but may experience great tribulation or suffering in the future.
When people go through hardship, they hope they never experience it again, but sometimes they face greater hardship. In such a case, we should not be discouraged or discouraged, but trust God's providence and depend on Him.
2. We must be sober and pray daily (verse 3).
Daniel didn't eat good food or oil for three weeks after realizing that a great war was going on. Judah returned to her homeland, but the numbers were small, and the rebuilding of the temple by those who returned did not go well. And the long captivity weakened Israel's faith. Daniel felt sorry for this situation and prayed without taking care of himself. Daniel's attitude is an example for us today.
We, who are living today, need to look at the suffering people on this earth with the heart of God. In addition, we must refrain from greed and pleasure and lead a life of moderation.
3. We must look to the Lord every day (verse 6).
Daniel saw a man in linen at the river Tigris while he was praying. The man's form was mysterious and noble. That man is Jesus Christ. The image and voice of the Lord were so powerful and majestic that Daniel was forced to bow down before Him. While Daniel had a vision, the others did not. I was so scared and trembling that I ran and hid. The glory of God can only be experienced by those to whom God's special grace has been given. Through the appearance of Christ, we come to realize once again that no matter how evil is rampant on this earth, in the end, believers are victorious because of Jesus Christ.
We should never waver or despair under any circumstances and circumstances. We need to strengthen our faith.
As Daniel prayed, he realized that Jesus Christ would lead him on the road to victory. In the face of the fearful future, we must watch and pray while looking only at the Lord. At that time, our Captain, Jesus Christ, will lead us to the best path.
