Daniel boldly declares to the demonstrator Arioch that he can interpret King Nebuchadnezzar's dream and asks him to lead him before the king. Before the king, Daniel first reveals that only God can reveal secrets.
How was Daniel's bold words and actions possible?
1. It was because they believed in the sovereignty of God (verse 28).
The rise and fall of all nations is entirely in the sovereignty of God. Daniel confesses that everything about dreams comes from God, and it is God who interprets dreams. King Nebuchadnezzar was troubled by a dream and could not sleep because he felt that it might be a disturbing omen for the fate of the nation. God has given man the authority to rule over everything in the world. The invisible hand of God is behind the establishment of a king or ruler. Paul says, “Let every one be in subjection to the superior authorities. There is no authority except from God, and all authority is ordained of God” (Romans 13:1). God, who showed the future of the nation through Nebuchadnezzar's dream, also allows us to see the future through the word. Those who listen to revelation through the Word are wise.
2. Because he had humble faith (verse 30).
Daniel attributes all these interpretations to the glory of God (verse 30). Through this text, we can learn Daniel's faith and humility. Are we not living to reveal our own righteousness every moment? It is God who will be glorified through who we are. If not, you must repent and rebuild your faith.
3. Because he had seen a vision (verse 31).
When we look at the introduction of (verse 31), “The king saw a great image” and (verse 34), “and while the king was looking”, we can see that the dream was divided into two parts. The previous dream is about a large statue made of various metals, and the second dream is that the large statue is broken by stones that have not been touched by humans. The gold head of the huge statue means Nebuchadnezzar and the prosperity of the Babylonian Empire, but the next dream makes you uneasy because you do not know it yourself. What God taught through Daniel was the destruction of the Babylonian Empire. Everything in the world has an end. You must not live with your heart occupied with things that will crumble and decay. Let's keep our hearts and become saints who live with hope in the eternal and eternal kingdom of God.
Who is the master of our life? Do you have the faith to set your mind upright no matter what trials you face? We learned through Daniel in the text to acknowledge God's sovereignty and possess a humble believer. Let's pray that we have the same faith as Daniel. You will see the amazing power of God.
