What is our idol? An idol is something you love more than God. Do you not love money, fame, power, or people more than God? Anything you love more than God, even if it's small things like celebrities, dramas, clothes, etc. I hope it will be a time to destroy the idols of our hearts and build a holy temple.
1. Satan's tactics (verse 1)
Satan's intensified tactic is idolatry. The king ordered all the people and officials to come to the inauguration of the golden image and worship it. He warned that anyone who does not worship will be thrown into a fiery furnace. The gold statue represents the god the king serves or the king himself. So, bowing down to the golden image means serving the Babylonian god and king. God's purpose of creation is to gain worship, and Satan's purpose is also to gain worship. Idols are objects of worship other than God. Life-threatening temptations of idolatry can come upon us. Sometimes it deceives us so that we cannot see or feel it. That is why we need to be spiritually awake. Satan uses clever tactics to make him betray God. Now is the time for spiritual strength.
2. Satan's accusation (v. 12)
The Chaldeans could not tolerate Daniel and his three friends being in high positions. The Chaldeans, who were filled with a sense of superiority, were jealous of Daniel and his three friends, who held a high position for dream interpretation. So I devised a plan to kill them. Envy and jealousy lead to loss of discernment and ultimately death. Jealousy is the desire to get good things only for yourself. It is the heart that rejoices in seeing the failure of others. Please take a look and see if we are full of envy, jealousy, and slander like this. Let's take the lead in filling the home and church community with the love and consideration of Christ. Satan is not afraid to argue. We are afraid to proclaim the sovereignty of God.
3. Pride is the vanguard of destruction
Nebuchadnezzar still did not know God properly because of his pride. His pride in making a gold statue and making himself a god comes from the fallen nature of man. Pride is the heart that does not keep its original position and strives to be higher than that. Pride blinds eyes and ears. Nebuchadnezzar was moved by Daniel's interpretation of the dream and rejoiced and confessed that God was the real God, but that was only for a moment. Emotions cannot change people. God opposes the proud and gives grace to the humble. Pride not only exalts itself, but also wants others to exalt itself. Pride is Satan's weapon. I hope that you will put on the clothes of humility and put off the clothes of pride that lead to destruction.
It must not be damaged or corrupted by the temptation of the golden image of Satan. Jesus Christ in us is greater than the world. The way to overcome the temptations and temptations of the world is to believe and follow the name of the Lord. The Lord will lead us in the path of righteousness.
