The gospel is ‘good news’. Those who are full of the joy of the gospel cannot make a decision without sharing it with others. Nebuchadnezzar told the people of his empire in a letter about his experience. The purpose of this protocol is to make all the people aware of the ‘signs and miracles that you have shown me’ and to praise the kingdom of God.
1. Through signs and miracles (verse 2)
The details of the signs and miracles that God performed to Nebuchadnezzar were: First, he allowed Daniel to interpret a dream. (Chapter 2) Second, he rescued Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from the fire. (Chapter 3) Third is an event recorded in this chapter. God, who establishes and abolishes kings, also makes us realize his sovereignty through refinement. Nebuchadnezzar was a proud man who boasted that he had built a great power with his own strength. But God revealed his power by judging him. God gives us the opportunity to repent and recover through signs and miracles. God is also giving us the opportunity to repent and restore through His Word. Don't let the opportunity he gives you. Remember that the God of mercy and compassion is the Lord of judgment.
2. Dreams through visions (verses 4-5)
Nebuchadnezzar's second dream was given when he was at peace. This peace is the result of a war of conquest full of greed. Because of that, God gave him a dream and made him troubled. They tried to interpret the dream, but the Babylonians who had the knowledge of the world could not interpret the hidden secrets of God. The king had acknowledged Daniel who had previously interpreted the dream, but he was still reluctant to believe in God. However, in God's providence, Daniel is eventually led before the king. In this way, God's plan and providence are not changed by human thoughts. A wise saint is one who responds immediately to the Word. Be grateful if God gives you a chance to repent. Please go before the ruler of all things.
3. The eternal kingdom of God (verse 3)
Nebuchadnezzar exclaims, “The kingdom endures forever, and it shall come to pass from generation to generation” (verse 3). Unlike the powers of the world, God's reign is eternal. Because God is the source of all authority. Nebuchadnezzar also had great authority and ruled over the nations, but he realized that God's authority was incomparable. Praise the greatness and power of the self-existent God. We did not realize the authority and rule of God until we were saved. When we enter the kingdom of God by being born again, the kingdom of God is revealed through us. “The kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Romans 14:17). Praise God, who is the head of all things.
We can know God without signs and miracles. The Word is the way to know the Lord more clearly and surely. Even if you have seen visions and dreams, it is difficult to lead a correct life of faith if the Word is not the cornerstone. I want you to live according to the Word of God.
