The happiest time for a prisoner is when the captivity is over. There is no better news for captivity than the news of the end of captivity. There is no better news than this, since God has promised to bring us an end to our captivity to sin.
1. God who gives wisdom and understanding (verse 22)
When Daniel repented of the nation's sins and prayed for God's glory, the angel Gabriel appeared and preached the word of God. The reason the angel came was to give Daniel wisdom and understanding. God gave Daniel wisdom and understanding so that he could understand and understand the revelation God had given him. Also, God answered Daniel's prayer when he prayed for the people to be restored according to Jeremiah's prophecy. Almighty God knows everything in the world in advance. Therefore, rather than worrying about problems that arise in life, we should trust God and ask Him. God is pleased to answer the prayers of his people. Are we leading a perfect prayer life?
2. Gabriel proclaiming the seventy weeks (v. 24)
Gabriel proclaims a period of seventy weeks to Daniel. The seventy-week prophecy is a prophecy that expresses the history of the people of Israel from the time they returned from their Babylonian captivity until the second coming of Christ. The seventy weeks represent a symbolic number of days in which salvation through the Messiah will be accomplished. God's work of salvation, partially accomplished by the first coming of Christ, will be completed at the second coming of Jesus Christ. The sovereignty and restoration of Israel is under God's plan. The world without Jesus Christ is destined for destruction. The saints should not put their hope in a world that will perish, but live the life they have been given, hoping for the eternal and immortal kingdom of God.
3. The Christian's final victory (verse 27)
The seventy weeks Gabriel gave are a period of time related to the future of Israel and to Jesus Christ. When Israel was in captivity and oppression, the anointed Christ would come and do the work of salvation. On the other hand, the Antichrist will persecute the church and the saints against the saving work of Christ. However, in the last days, Jesus Christ, who comes as the Second Coming Lord, will completely judge the Antichrist and complete the seventy weeks. Seventy weeks promise the victory of Christ. Believers must be convinced that God will have the final victory and endure in faith no matter what kind of tribulation they face. Armed with the word of truth, we must live a wise life in preparation for the end. How are we preparing for the end now?
Under God's sovereignty and plan, Israel will end captivity and gain freedom. God's people will no longer be captives of Satan, but will live freely as children of God. Are we free from the law of sin and death? May you live a life that enjoys the freedom God has given you.
