It is safe to commit sins, but humans are fragile beings who have no choice but to sin. When people commit a sin, they try to cover it up and cover it up. And even if you sin, you don't feel any remorse. But God takes sin seriously. Please examine our attitude toward sin through the text.
1. Israel Shame and Disgrace
Israel is shamed and humiliated. They sinned against God and were scattered to the Gentiles. It became a nation that was defeated by enemies. Why did this happen? It was because Israel did not keep their promises to God. God convicts Israel of their sins by making them humiliated for breaking their promises. They broke the law of Moses, they did not repent despite the rebukes of the prophets, and they did not seek grace from God. God disciplines His children when they do not live in the Word. We should not commit the foolishness of receiving God's discipline by obeying God's Word.
2. Prayers worthy of God
It is no wonder that the people of Israel who have sinned should be put to shame. But Daniel had mercy and prayed for forgiveness. Because I knew that God rules the world with justice and at the same time is full of love and compassion. Daniel fully trusted in a just and pure God. His prayers show us how we should pray today. Looking at our society today, we cannot help but pray. In our society, like Israel, everyone from the people to the leaders seems to be corrupted and stained with sin. Believers must trust in the God of justice and love and pray for the nation. God will hear our prayers and forgive the sins of the nation.
3. Unrepentant Israel and Praying Daniel
Even though Israel was disciplined by God, they did not forsake their sins. Even though the shame they received was due to God's discipline, they did not realize that they still sinned. Even though God warned us about sin, we did not realize it. Israel did not realize that they had to repent of their sins until the 70 years of their captivity had passed. With a sad heart, Daniel asked for forgiveness for his sins on behalf of the people and prayed for the restoration of Israel. When we receive God's warning and discipline, we must realize it and ask Him to turn back. Remember that if you do not repent because you do not finally realize your sin, the result will be disaster, judgment, and destruction.
What are the subjects we need to repent of before God now? Sins, even small ones, should not be underestimated. A righteous God makes sure to pay the price for sin. Therefore, before paying the price, I hope that the saints will realize their sins, repent and turn around and receive God's mercy.
