Sermons for Preaching

Title Day. 22 Created to be like Christ.

Contents

Man was created in God's image, and to be like God is to live according to the original purpose... But we either have a proud image of trying to be perfect like God, or vice versa, that everything is God's will. I often see active people who not only do not need my efforts, but also wait for God to decide everything in decisions such as professional marriage tests.

As the author says, “Salvation cannot be given through effort, but spiritual growth can only be obtained through effort,” we see that we must trust and rely on God in humility, but do our best to do what we need to do.

The first half of the book, The Will of God, speaks of God's will for us. God doesn't like to challenge God's authority because we're proud, but God doesn't want us to make our choices and everything we do. He doesn't like to wait blindly to make a decision.

In fact, it seems that the choice of what profession we will choose and who we will marry in the future is more often left to us than to God unilaterally. Whether I become an architect, a doctor, or a business owner, or when I ask God about choosing a mate, “Is this this person?”, God seems to have more times when he said no. He gave us freedom of choice, but I think that asking God to take the time to make a decision may not be what God wants. I think that God's interest is more about how much more we can love and serve God even after making that choice rather than what kind of job we have and how we can marry someone. If it is judged that it is not possible to serve God well, he will block that path. However, there are more cases where we leave many choices to our freedom, except for those who are specifically called to the path of ministry.

So, rather than worrying about this, I hope that I can think about what kind of attitude I should have for the rest of my life in order to live a life that resembles Christ. We hope for a life that goes beyond the circumstances of choice in front of us and becomes more like Jesus Christ, who is the ultimate purpose of life.

I don't worry too much about whether marathon runners will wear red pants or yellow t-shirts. In the middle of running, I choose whether to drink Powerade, Gatorade, or water, but I don't waste time thinking about it until I lose the purpose of running. Our lives are similar. If you run toward the goal of the Lord, I want you to run dynamically while enjoying the freedom of many choices without departing from that path.
