Text: Matthew 27:11-26
As we approach the 21st century, there are people who live in the richness of material thanks to the development of a brilliant cultural civilization, while there are many people who are exhausted and collapse while continuing the bloody struggle for a slice of bread while continuing to live a life that does not die. In the meantime, there are many times when many people have to make a decision to live a better life. do you have to shouldn't it? Even as believers, there are times when we have to make a decision for the soul, for the church, and for God. Do I have to drink this cup with Jesus in front of the cross too? Can't you drink? You can hear the voice of the Lord who is suffering and finally decides, “Drink as I will, and do as you will.”
Looking back on my life, there were times when I had to make many decisions.
③ As an example of a failed decision, there was a difficult time due to the wrong decision between the office of the district secretary and the office of the district superintendent when the church was revived and had to take on the office locally.
④ It was the most difficult time to make a decision in the case of the IMF bursting and the church members falling apart at the time of the 3rd temple construction. However, I decided to start building the temple in the conviction that “God does the temple building, and it is the work of the devil to stop the temple building.” Looking back now, I think, “I made a really good decision back then.”
Today's text tells us how important the cost of our decisions is. At that time, Pilate, who had been granted rulership by Caesar, the Roman emperor, and became governor of Judea, judged Jesus. Governor Pilate had the power to kill and bring life to life. In this court of Pilate, the innocent Jesus was brought to stand. In Pilate's position, the moment came when he had to decide, 'What should I do about Jesus? A very solemn moment has come when this decision will determine your eternal destiny. At this time, three voices came to Pilate.
1. It is the voice of conscience.
Pilate, who was trying to find the guilt of Jesus through legal process, discovered that the Jewish religious leaders were jealous of religious issues and wanted to kill Jesus. He says, “I found no sin in him”. The voice of conscience that Pilate heard was that he could not kill the sinless Jesus.
2. It is the voice of the devil.
The sound of the Jewish religious leaders forcing them to kill Jesus with or without sin, and the instigated crowd shouting, “Crucify him, crucify him.” This is the devil's voice. The devil is the one who harms, the one who destroys, the one who makes sick, the one who tries, the one who stirs up alienation, and one who causes death. A person with the attributes of the devil can only hear the sound of the devil when he opens his mouth. I hope you realize, be vigilant, and make the decision to cut it off.
3. It is the voice of God.
The trial is going on, and the wife of Governor Pilate has sent someone to say: Matthew 27:19 says, “Have nothing to do with that righteous man. I gave him a lot of trouble in today's dream.” In this way, God's voice came through the wife of Pilate the judge.
Now Pilate must make a decision. Governor Pilate has the authority to decide between the voice of his conscience, which must be released because he is innocent, God's voice saying nothing to do with it, and the voice of the devil telling him to crucify Jesus.
Decisions must be made well. Because you are responsible for your decisions.
It is important because it changes the destiny of this world and changes the situation in heaven. In Luke 23, Pilate professes his innocence three times to save Jesus, but when he saw that the people were shaken, he raised the hand of the majority for fear of being reprimanded by the Roman emperor, and sentenced to death to have Jesus crucified. I did. It was the moment when the decision was wrong. It was a moment of unhappiness not only for his life but also for his soul. According to the historian Josephius, Pilate was so distressed by it that he “drown into a deep pond and committed suicide.” Perhaps Pilate is still washing his hands again and again in Hell, pouring water into a basin and saying, “I am not guilty.” If you can't hear God's voice, you should at least listen to the voice of your conscience, but Pilate made the wrong decision and is still called the son of perdition in the confession of the saints, "He suffered from Pilate and was crucified and died."
Dear members of the Shepherd Church, today, due to the inevitable
