Everyone wants to get into a good school or company. But not everyone who wants to go can get in. You must obtain permission from the school or company. The same is true of God's promised land. Only those who have been permitted by God can enter. Who can get God's permission?
1. Those who could not enter - those who disobeyed (verses 34-35)
The promised land of Canaan, flowing with milk and honey, was originally reserved for all the Israelites. However, practically not all people were able to enter. There were people who couldn't get in. They are the first generation of Exodus, who did not obey God's word to the end. God did not allow any number of disobedient people to enter the Promised Land. Even Moses could not enter Canaan. Although he did not commit the same sins as the people, it was because he did not completely obey the word of God. God let them die in the wilderness, and He did not listen to their mourning.
Even today, if we do not completely obey God, we cannot enter the kingdom that God has promised. Because disobedience cuts us apart from God.
2. Those who entered - those who obeyed (verses 36, 38)
Not all the first generation of Exodus were unable to enter the Promised Land. Caleb and Joshua were able to enter Canaan. They were allowed to enter Canaan because they completely obeyed God's word and trusted Him. These two men were among the 12 spies. However, like the ten, they distrusted God and did not frighten the hearts of the people. They never lost their faith in God. Instead of relying on human thoughts and abilities, they believed in the power of God and obeyed the Word.
When we obey the Word, we can receive the land that God has given us as an inheritance. Just like Caleb and Joshua, please believe and obey the Word until the end.
3. Children of the Promise (verse 39)
The first generation of Exodus from Egypt, who did not believe in God, opposed entering Canaan for fear that their children would be captured by the natives. But God has given their children the Promised Land. It is not for parents to judge and decide who can enter the Promised Land. It depends on God's judgment. Those who did not believe in God's promise and disobeyed could not enter the land of Canaan, but little children who did not take part in the crime of disobedience could enter the land of Canaan. God's promises are given to all saints, but we must remember that the effort for fulfillment is our own. How are we affecting our children? Are you having the good influence of your faith?
Those who disobeyed God's word were not permitted to enter the land of Canaan. Only obedient people were allowed into Canaan. When we obey God's commands, we win, and when we disobey, we experience failure. We pray that our families will receive the kingdom of God as an inheritance through a life of obedience.
