Venue: Jeonju Yebut Church Small Worship Room

One of the common subjects in recent dramas is adultery. Premarital pregnancies are sometimes portrayed as no-brainers. As a Christian, I am often confused about what kind of sexual ethics I should live with. Through this text, we would like to rethink the sexual consciousness and sexual ethics that we should have.

1. Chastity Marriage

Marriage is a sacred ordinance ordained by God and is the personal union of a man and a woman. The spirit of marriage is pure love, which must be observed physically, mentally and spiritually. Therefore, the married person must cleanse themselves in body and mind for myself and my spouse. Do not engage in behavior that breaks trust or deceives your spouse. These days, the tendency to seek physical relationships as an expression of love is increasing. But love waits, does not seek its own, and endures all things. You should cherish your body for your spouse. When the purity of marriage is kept, our meetings and families will be happier. We must remember that the teaching of chastity is not meant to give us a yoke, but to give us freedom.

2. Marriage of Faith

The text (verses 20-21) stipulates the punishment to be received when a wife deceives her and marries her even though she is not a virgin. In case of doubt, you must prove that you are a virgin by the methods of the time. A woman who could not prove she was a virgin had to go back to her father's house and be stoned to death. This is a punishment for shameful conduct in Israel through promiscuity. This shows us how important God is to chastity. In addition, this punishment is also a punishment for a deceitful act that conceals a promiscuous life. All relationships are built and maintained through trust. Maintaining physical and mental chastity for husbands and wives is the key to creating a healthy and happy home.

3. Responsible Marriage (verses 13-19)

If a man hates his wife and wants to divorce her because of her chastity, the woman's father must present evidence to the elders and relieve her daughter's injustice. A man who tries to end a marriage for unjust reasons is fined and declared impossible to divorce. This is a protection regulation for women who had no choice but to receive a disadvantage in their status due to the unilateral decision of their husband at the time. There are countless stories of families breaking up. However, since marriage is a status contract with God, it must be kept. Spouses must take responsibility for mutual support and maintain the marriage no matter what difficulties they may face. You must be responsible to your spouse. Home is a gift from God.

Trust must be built from the moment you decide on a mate. Keeping a clean body and mind for the sake of marriage is the best way to give your partner trust. In addition, marriage is a responsibility. We must fulfill our duty of support and serve each other faithfully. We hope that our home will be a good example for the church and society.

<Prayer>

1. Let our family be a healthy and happy family of faith and a family of blessing!

2. May your faith in the Lord keep you pure!

3. Heal the weak and restore the fullness of the Holy Spirit!
