So far, Moses has proclaimed the blessings that obedience brings. But from now on, I declare the curse that will come for disobedience. Verses 15-68 list disobedience. Let's take a look at the curse upon those who disobey and examine our spiritual condition.
1. Do not do anything (verse 20)
The curse that the Israelites receive when they disobey is the opposite of the blessing they receive when they obey. Cursed in towns and fields, cursed produce and livestock, cursed even if they come in. Soon you will be cursed in all your daily life. If God is not with you, no matter what you do, you will not prosper. God's curse permeates all areas of an individual's life and destroys them completely. However, it is not just for chastening that God places such a curse. God guards against sin through discipline and guides us to the right path. Are you struggling in any area of your life? If so, I hope you will look back on your disobedience to God and repent.
2. Getting sick (verses 21-22)
The second curse of disobedience is disease. If Israel forsakes the Word of God and does evil, God will also reject Israel and bring curses, fears, reproofs, and various diseases upon them. In particular, fatal infectious diseases, lung diseases, and fevers that cause death will eventually lead to death. God will strike with disease and calamity until the disobedient are utterly destroyed. Those who are ill will not be able to be cured by any medicine. Disobedient people will never escape this curse of God. We must fear the curse of disobedience. Of course, we should not assume that all of our occasional ailments are due to God's curse. However, we must keep in mind that God uses disease as an instrument of judgment.
3. Received a natural disaster (verses 23-24)
Another curse that disobedience brings comes through nature. Natural disasters such as drought, flood, heavy snow, and severe cold. A severe drought causes the earth to harden like iron, dust and sand cover the skies, and the atmosphere fills with the heat of a furnace entrance. Now the whole world is suffering from natural disasters. This is by no means accidental. Human greed and sin brought suffering. God rules nature. Through nature he reveals and judges his will. What should we do in the face of natural disasters that cannot be solved by human strength? There is only one thing, you must humbly kneel. We must ask God for mercy and repent of the sins of the nation and the nations.
A life cursed by God can never lead a perfect life. In order to live as a human being, we must obey the Word of God. What are we disobeying God's Word for now? I hope that I can realize it soon and turn around.
<Prayer>
1. If there is something I am disobeying the Word of, please realize it and turn it around!
2. May we always be filled with the Holy Spirit so that we can obey God's Word!
3. Heal the weak patients quickly and lead them to the place of grace!
