Deuteronomy 29-30 is Moses' fourth and final sermon. Moses must have been worried when he saw the Israelites going into Canaan. He preaches again the things that the Israelites, who will begin their Canaan life, must not forget and keep. What should they not forget and protect?
1. Do not forget the covenant (verse 1)
God had already made a covenant with the children of Israel on Mount Horeb. Its contents are the Ten Commandments and the Pentateuch. And he confirmed the covenant he made on Mount Horeb again in the land of Moab. He proclaimed the covenant given to the first generation in the wilderness on Mount Horeb to the second generation in the wilderness in Moab. The Moabite Covenant is a brief and clear description of the content of the covenant so that life in Canaan does not fail by recalling the past. Therefore, the Israelites must never forget this covenant they made with God. We must remember the covenant and keep it for generations to come. Even today's saints must not forget their covenants and commands with God. You must also pass it on to your descendants to keep them. Do we try not to forget the Word of God? Please do your best to teach and spread the Word to your children.
2. Do not forget the miracle (verses 2-4)
Israel must not forget that God brought them out of Egypt through great tests, signs and wonders. We must not forget that God performed many miracles, such as parting the Red Sea, providing manna and quail, and making living water spring from a rock. We must not forget his grace soon. They were freed from slavery by a God-given miracle. We were able to enter the land of abundance by a miracle God gave us. We too must not forget the miracles and grace that God has given us. What miracles has God performed in our lives? Isn't it a miracle that we become children of God? May we all remember the grace that God has bestowed upon us.
3. Don't forget to lead (verses 5-9)
After the Exodus, Israel lived in the wilderness for 40 years. For 40 years, they did not work for a living. I didn't worry about what clothes to wear and where to live. It is because God completely solved their food, clothing and shelter for 40 years. He also protected them from many enemies. It was because of God's guidance that they were able to win the war even though they did not go hungry in the wilderness and did not have adequate military power. God will soon give the land of Canaan to Israel as an inheritance. Israel just needs to remember and obey God's guidance. We too must not forget God's guidance. The God who has guided us so far will also guide us in the future.
Without God's grace to Israel, they would still live as slaves, oppressed and oppressed. Without God's grace, we would still be slaves to sin and Satan. Please remember and give thanks for the grace that God has bestowed upon us. Please show your gratitude with obedience.
