Text: (Deuteronomy 2:16-25)

Hymns: 433. Precious Lord hold me

Date: March 6, 2011 (Sunday) 5:00 am

Venue: Jeonju Yebut Church Small Worship Room

To get something and achieve something, you have to do your best. However, hard work does not always result in good results. Sometimes, the results aren't as good as the effort, so it's heartbreaking. But whatever the outcome, we must do our best. And the result must be left to God.

1. Giving an inheritance to Ammon (verse 19)

After God had previously told us not to harass Moab, he then said not to harass the Ammonites. Ammon, like Moab, is a descendant of Lot. The child born to Lot's younger daughter became the origin of the Ammonites. All Israel is a brother nation. By the grace of God, they destroyed the Rephaimites, who were as powerful as the descendants of Anak, and lived in the east of Canaan. It was God who gave Ammon the inheritance. God destroyed the Rephaimites. We have come to realize once again that even the Gentiles are within God's plan and providence.

Please remember that all events are also in God's hands.

2. Overthrowing the giant (verse 21)

The land of the Ammonites was inhabited by tall and strong men like the Anakites before. God had already given the land to the Ammonites, so the Ammonites could attack them and take their land as their inheritance. God will use Israel to destroy the Canaanites, just as God took the descendants of Esau to destroy the Horites or the Cretes to destroy the Avites.

God is in control of the life and death of all nations and peoples in the world. No matter how powerful a nation is, it cannot escape God's judgment. The God who rules the world also controls and guides the lives of each individual saint.

3. Heshbon is given to Israel (verses 24-25)

After looking back on the nations that should not be taken, Moses describes the nations he commanded. God promised to give Israel the land of Heshbon. He said that if we obey the word and fight, we will possess the land. Israel passed through the land of the Edom, Moam, and Ammonites gentlely without harassing them. They ate and drank and paid for water and food. God promised to give them the land of Heshbon. Israel, who had received God's promise, had no need to fear, but rather all nations under the heavens would be afraid of Israel. All Israel needs to do is listen to the Word of God, believe it, and move forward. God will fill you with the best when you obey and follow the Word.

God builds up and destroys. He controls and decides all the history of the world. Everything we have is given by God. There is nothing that God does not allow. We must acknowledge God's sovereignty, expect the best results, and live a life that does our best.

<Prayer>

1. Let us obey the word of God and enter Canaan!

2. Fill us with the anointing of the Holy Spirit in our Sunday worship service!

3. Let the next generation be nurtured by faith and revive in the Word!
