When competing against countries such as the World Cup or the Olympics, people who watch the match are heartbroken. This is because they are afraid that their side may lose the match. If victory is always guaranteed, you will be able to watch the game with peace of mind. In today's text, Israel fights a war with guaranteed victory.
1. Delivered into the hand of Israel (verse 2)
God gave the king of Bashan to Israel. Israel had already conquered the Sihon Kingdom. The Israelites attacked the kingdom of Bashan and took all the cities. When the king of Bashan saw Sihon, king of the Amorites, fall, he was not worried at all. Because the kingdom of Bashan was strong enough to oppose Israel and it was well fortified. He believed only in his own abilities and depended on a strong city, but eventually fell to Israel. No matter how strong Bashan is, fighting against Israel, where God is with him, is inevitably unreasonable. Conversely, no matter how strong a wall is or how strong an enemy is, as long as God gives it to him, he can overcome it.
Please remember that those who believe and rely on God's power will surely win in the spiritual battlefield of life.
2. Annihilate all ((Verse 6)
In the war against Bashan, the Israelites killed both men and women in each city, including children. The act of killing even women and children in war seems ruthless and cruel from a human point of view. However, this war is a temple for realizing God's justice. In order to remove all the sins of the land, God commanded us to destroy even the children, the seeds of sin. This fact shows that God is not only a God of mercy and love, but also a God of wrath and judgment.
Are there still seeds of sin that must be completely removed from within us? Please do not put any regrets on the sins that God wants you to forsake. We must not forget that sin, no matter how sweet it may seem, ultimately destroys the soul.
3. Giving gifts (verse 8)
The people of Israel destroyed the kingdom of Bashan and took the large land and the many cities and the great wealth that was in it. Og, king of Bashan, whom Israel has now conquered, was the only remnant of Rephaim, and he was a very majestic figure. But God destroyed him and all his people. God gave a vast plain to the Israelites who obeyed His Word. Israel's victory was already guaranteed. They didn't have to have any anxiety or fear, like watching a rerun of a winning match. Because God has promised victory. Our fight is already guaranteed to be won. As long as you obey the Word, you can receive and enjoy the gift God has prepared for you.
The more difficult commands are obeyed, the more God delights them. Because it shows that you have a deep trust in God. What are we to obey God? If we rely on and obey the Word, God will praise our faith with a precious gift we never thought possible.
<Prayer>
1. Help me to obey the Word every day and live a victorious life!
2. May the Spring Great Atrium, starting today, overflow with grace!
3. May each family be healed and restored through the Word!
