main text:"… But you did not want to go up, you disobeyed the command of the LORD your God, and complained in the tents, saying, The LORD hates us, so he brought us out of the land of Egypt to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites to destroy us... ” (Deuteronomy 1:19-33).
Word: We work hard in our own way But there are some things we do that are unnecessary or should not be done. You can see that through the text.
The Israelites' hearts were excited as they left Egypt, the land of slavery, and headed toward Canaan. How excited are you? But a serious problem arose. The place where the trouble occurred was Kadesh-Barnea.
They sent 12 spies from Kadesh-Barnea to Canaan. It was to find out which way to go up and which city to enter. The spies were sent because the Israelites wanted them (verse 22).
But what happened after the spies returned? They acknowledged that the land of Canaan was good, but reported pessimistically that they would not be able to conquer it. All the people became discouraged and blamed God. Because of this, the Israelites lived in the wilderness for 40 years.
I am very sorry at this point. Wouldn't it be better if we hadn't sent spies? God said it was good, so why did he need to send a spy?
Some even say that you have to knock on stone bridges and cross them. But if you keep thinking and do nothing in the name of being cautious, it's a really serious problem. If you are only refining your strategy while looking at the land of Canaan, when will you get the land of Canaan?
Rather than spies, it would have been right to believe in God's guidance and move forward boldly. God is the guide, so what need is the spy? Wasn't it the result of following God to go to Kadesh-Barnea? Spying is nothing more than a human excuse for those who do not fully trust in God.
Don't miss the chance. Don't waste time spying. What is needed is an act of faith. We must not forget that overthinking is what makes our life powerless.
Prayer: Lord, leave human calculation behind and move forward only according to your will. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
