Do your best (Matthew 22:37-40)

Former US President Carter wrote a book called "Why Don't You Do Your Best?" The book tells the story of Carter's days as a naval officer. Naval Admiral Hyman Rikabi asked Carter, "How did you finish your studies at the military academy?" “I got 59th out of 820,” Carter proudly replied. Then, without praising him, he asked, "Why didn't you do your best?" Carter confesses that he was inspired at that time to develop a habit of doing his best at whatever he did, and as a result he became president.

Carter is said to be one of the most hardworking American presidents ever since he stepped down from the presidency. To this day, I am still doing my best to serve a Christian charity. How envious and wonderful are you? We say to each other, “I just need to live once.” Amen.

God does not praise the best, but praises those who do their best.

Frederick the Great asked, “Is God alive?” Then a servant said: “Yes, God lives.” “Then, what is the evidence?” “It is a Jew (Israeli).”

Even to this day, Jews always get up when they fall. It will survive even if it is beaten in all directions. Even in the midst of many tribulations and adversity, the nation is constantly protected by God's guidance and help. They are blessed by God. they are strong Small, but they rule the world.

24% of Nobel Prize winners are Jews. 30% of America's eminent university professors are Jewish, and of the 30 greatest Americans, Jews make up 50%. Less than 0.2% of the world's population, this small population moves the world. This is true in politics, economics, society, and academics. Einstein, who we know well, and Kissinger, who dominated world politics in the 60's and 70's, are all Jews.

In the text of the text (Matthew 22:37-40), “Jesus said, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment, and the second is like it: Treat your neighbor as your body. “You shall love them as you love.” These two commandments are all the law and the prophets.”

Here, “do with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind” means “do your best.”

Who does Jesus praise? He is a person who does his best.

1. Those who do their best work with all their heart.

The original Hebrew word for the word ‘mind’ here is ‘slavema’, which means ‘a person’s thoughts, thoughts, and attitudes’. If you have the wrong attitude, your body will be wrong, and if you have the wrong attitude, your life will be completely crooked.

The human mind is certainly a treasure trove that cannot be measured. It means that you have gold and silver treasures in your heart. The mind is an invisible gem. The mind is the greatest wealth and resource.

The word self-development is used a lot these days, but in the end, self-development is the development of one's own mind. Success depends on how well you develop yourself. Amen.

When someone studies a piece of iron worth 350 won with all their heart and makes a horse's hoof, it becomes 8,000 won; The research result of making a watch spring with all one's heart costs 180 million won, proving to us that high results can be achieved through human effort.

2. People who do their best work hard with their life/life (character).

Instead of saying ‘with all your soul,’ Moses said ‘with all your life’.

Here, the original word for ‘character’ is ‘nephesh’. The word ‘nephesh’ means “life”.

American General Cortez set out to conquer Mexico in 1519 with 700 men on 11 ships. Conquering a country with a small number was usually impossible without determination. General Cortez arrived at the port of Veracruz in Mexico with great determination. And in front of his 700 men, they burned all 11 boats on board. The soldiers bit their teeth as they watched the ship, the only means of retreat, burn and sink into the sea. “Conquest is the only way to live. Victory is the only way to preserve life. the ground dies We have no way back.” It was a great victory. There is nothing more powerful than running at the risk of your life. That's why Jesus emphasized the importance of "taking out your life."

3. People who do their best work hard with their will (goals).

There is an old saying that if there is a will, there is a way and if there is a way, you can go.

The word ‘will’ in the text is a translation of ‘diasnorah’. This means 'to pursue a clear goal'. When you do your best with a will (goal), that will will be fulfilled when the time is right. You can't expect success when you do things in moderation without making up your mind.

Daniel set his will (goal) with God and prayed to God, risking his life.

When Moses set his will (goal) and carried out the great history of the Exodus, the pursuit of the enemy, the Red Sea, the bitter waters of Marah, hunger, the people's jeers, murmurings, and complaints could not restore the great purpose of the Exodus from Egypt. I try to move forward by setting this intention in everything. Amen.

Then, together, with all our heart, with all our life, and with all our mind,

1. I love God.

A husband living in America loved his wife very much. Even when he was away for a while, he had the words “I love you” written within reach of his wife. So, a note with beautiful words is hidden in every corner of the house.

When my wife got tired and put her hand in her pocket, it was there. Every time I read this note, my wife's dark heart brightened and her heart felt refreshed, and she lived a happy life with her husband's boundless love. Let's try "I love you" with each other.

If there is one most beautiful word in the world, it is the word “love”.

Dear all! Do you really love God? Amen with us.

It is said that the words “God first” were embroidered and hung in the family restaurant of a certain historical believer. That restaurant is doing pretty well. The source of blessing is God.

When the famous French emperor, Louis IX, married Princess Margaret, he engraved "God, France, Margaret" on the wedding ring and said there was nothing else to love.

2. I love my neighbor.

Jesus said, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

What is the scope of the neighborhood?

They may be of their own people (Jeremiah 34:9), they may be Gentiles (Leviticus 19:34), they may be members of the same religion (Ezra 8:21), or they may be everyone in need (Luke 10:30). Everyone we come close to is our neighbor and can be a parent (brother, neighbour, or colleague).

I asked Ford, the car king, the secret to success. He answered. “I have never built a car to make money. All we did was focus on developing a car that would make people feel comfortable,” he said.

Together, we do our best to love God/neighbor with all our heart/life/will. - Amen -.
