Title Don't Get Tired

Isaiah 40:27-31 Do not be weary
There is an English word for 'burn out'. Translated into Korean, it means ‘to burn out.’ This means that the energy is depleted and cannot produce any power or power. This phrase is often expressed as a metaphor for life. “Ah- he's burnt out now!” What does this mean? It means “that person is now very tired and tired of living life.”
Guys, sometimes we can get tired. Studying students may be tired of studying. Business people and working people can get tired of it. Even a housewife who is constantly doing laundry, cleaning, preparing food, and caring for children at home can be exhausting. Also, pastors can get tired of pastoring. Moreover, it can be exhausting when you come to a foreign land here in Canada with dreams and hopes, but things don't go as you want them to.
Especially when tiredness comes to you in a foreign land, it feels stronger than the tiredness you experience in your homeland. As a result, although it varies from person to person, homesickness develops, lethargy and depression occur, the desire to go somewhere far away, and even suicide when the situation becomes extreme. So running the marathon of life isn't all about running fast, it's even more important to control your own pace without getting tired.
This is today's text. The book of Isaiah we read is divided into two main parts. Chapters 1 to 39, the first half, are scenes of the Israelites being taken captive to Babylon for their idolatry and crimes and leading a miserable life. As you know, prisoners of war at that time were treated less than humans. It is the one that suffers the most. Despair. Tragedy. Pain. However, from chapter 40 to the last chapter, chapter 66, which we read today, the latter half of the chapter contains the words of God that give hope to the people of Israel nonetheless.
Now, the people of Israel are going through a lot of hardship because they came as captives to foreign land. There are sorrows and sorrows of living abroad. Sometimes there is a cylindricity. But it gives us hope that we will be liberated and live a wonderful life. So don't be tired. that never get tired. Ladies and gentlemen, you must not get tired in this foreign land. You must not come to this place from across the Pacific and fall. Why not get tired? The reason is clear.
1. Because God is eternal, we must not get tired.
Today's text says: “Jacob, why do you say, Israel, why do you say, My case is hidden from the LORD, and my grievance is not accepted by my God? Have you not known or have you not heard? Eternal God, the LORD, who created the ends of the earth, does not grow weary or grow weary” (Isaiah 40:27-28).
Guys, we often tend to see life as short. So it's easy to get impatient. If something good doesn't happen today, you get discouraged. If things don't go well today, I get tired. I feel depressed if the report card I was hoping for doesn't come out today. But think of the eternal God. He is not the one who gets discouraged and weary just looking at the grim reality of today. He is the eternal One who sees tomorrow and the future, so there is a bright light of hope in the darkest darkness.
Sometimes I watch movies. The villain approaches back to kill the protagonist and suddenly points a gun at him. Everyone in the audience is holding their breath. Everyone is tensed to dry their blood with their chests pounding. But I am casual. And I cry inwardly. “The main character will never die. If that main character is already dead, the movie is at the beginning... It can't be!”
Ladies and gentlemen, the protagonist never dies at the beginning of a movie. If you watch a short movie, you can't afford it, but if you watch a long movie, you can afford it. Just thinking about the problems, sadness, and pain that are approaching me right now makes me lose my composure and get tired. In such a case, it is necessary to lift up your eyes and look into the distant future so that you do not get tired. We do not get tired when we think of the eternal world. I must believe that the eternal God has decided my future the happiest.
Dad took his three-year-old son to the zoo. I went and stood in front of the lion cage. The lion came up to the little boy and roared with his mouth wide open. The son screamed and cried, “Daddy!” But Dad is not scared or crying. Why? The son only sees the approaching lion, but the father is looking at the thick iron bars in front of the lion.
That's right. This is the conversation between the Babylonian captive Israelites and Isaiah. The Israelites shouted, “God! Look at that Babylon.” But Isaiah is crying out. “You only see Babylon, but I also see the God between Babylon and you. He is eternal.”
So are we. When there are problems and difficulties in this foreign land, it is easy for us to see only problems. So they are afraid and discouraged and cry out. "God! Look at that Goliath. God! Look at that Red Sea water.” But God speaks. "Hey guys! Don't just look at Goliath, don't just look at the Red Sea, look at me. Am I not the eternal God?” Folks, our God is eternal. We do not tire of looking to the eternal God.
2. Because God is a creator, we must not get tired.
Sometimes we forget that God is the One who makes the impossible become, the impossible becomes, and the one who breaks through the obstacles and makes the impossible possible. So when problems approach, it is easy to become discouraged, weak and exhausted. But today's text tells us. “Jacob, why do you say, Israel, why do you say, My case is hidden from the LORD, and my grievance is not accepted by my God? Have you not known or have you not heard? Eternal God, the LORD, who created the ends of the earth, does not grow weary or grow weary” (Isaiah 40:27-28).
Gentlemen, our God is the Creator who made something out of nothing. There is nothing impossible for him. In more difficult terms, God is all-powerful. Abraham, the father of faith, confessed his God like this.
“The God whom he believed in gives life to the dead and calls things that do not exist as though they were. Abraham hoped and believed in the midst of hope, so that he might become the father of many nations, as it was said, 'Your descendants will be like this.' When he was a hundred years old, he believed, knowing that his body was as dead as his own body and as Sarah's womb. He did not grow weak and did not have faith, so he did not doubt the promises of God, but was strengthened in his faith, giving glory to God, and being convinced that he was also able to accomplish what he had promised; therefore it was counted as righteousness to him.” (Romans 4:17-22) )
Ladies and gentlemen, if we believe in God, the Creator, who makes it possible without it, we will never get tired. Our God is the One who can give strength and strength to those who are weary and weary. Therefore, in this foreign land, when our strength and abilities are low, we pray to the Creator Almighty God to be recharged with new strength.
3. Because God never gets tired, we must not get tired.
Isaiah confesses that God never wears out.
Ladies and gentlemen, the God who never gets tired is with us even at this time. And that God is by his side even now, giving us strength and power so that we do not get tired. And yet, if we meet, weary, weary, and the grass is dead, what will happen to God's face? What if someone sees your grass dead and says this? “Hey, why are you so dry? Is the God you believe in dead?”
Guys, don't we believe in a dead God? We believe in the living God today. Looking to God who never gets tired, we gain new strength even in this foreign land. Today's text testifies that those who look to God will receive new strength. It is compared to that of an eagle soaring up on its wings. All the birds in the world are busy hiding when the weather is ferocious and stormy and torrential rains are coming.
But rather, the eagle soars with its wings toward the firmament. He is a brave man who never succumbs to any adverse conditions. In the image of an eagle soaring with its wings, there is no sign of exhaustion or fatigue. Even if a boy is tired and weary, even if a young man stumbles and falls, we are not weary as we wait for God. This is because we always receive refreshment from the eternal God, the Creator God, and the God who never wears out. In the name of the Lord, I pray in the name of the Lord that you will receive the new strength God gives you in this foreign land and that you will continue to overflow with hope in the field of life.
