Sermons for Preaching

Title done. (John 19:30)

Contents Elijah, who had fought with 500 prophets of Baal, was chased by a woman and pleaded, “O Lord, it is enough; take my life now” from under a rosemary in the wilderness of Beersheba. But Jesus, who was crucified between two thieves, cried out, “It is finished” even at the moment of death. Jesus, knowing the hardships of life to the dregs, threw it away, and achieved victory through death. Not cowardly avoiding death, but through death and reaching victory.

Because if it ended only with death, it would be the biggest failure in history. However, the greatest victory was created because God, whom we thought had been abandoned, accomplished the resurrection with His power. It was the moment when the greatest failure leads to the greatest victory.

Even at the moment of death, Jesus could cry out for victory. “It is finished” In the Synoptic Gospels, it is said that he cried out with a loud voice. Let's meditate together on how we were able to shout that we were finished in the face of death and what we achieved.

I. What 1) God’s revelation and act of love

Jesus spoke the will of God to mankind throughout his life, and for that purpose, he taught and preached many people, and he taught and sent disciples. Yet, he was always asking what God's will is, and he struggled to accomplish it.

God loves humans. In John 3:16 it says, “God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son.” It tells how much God loves the world and how much he loves it. To what extent was it that he even gave his only begotten son.

how did you give your only begotten son

The answer is recorded in Romans 5:8. “God demonstrates his love for us in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). God's love for mankind was confirmed by Jesus dying on the cross. In other words, where can we find God's love, that is, we can find it on the cross of Jesus. It is that the love of God was shown the most at the cross.

But whenever we see the cross, why are we not moved? It is because we do not have the experience of forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ. I was a sinner who had no choice but to die, but when I see the cross, I can't help but be thankful and grateful when I see the cross in my heart, who deeply experienced that I could be forgiven through the cross of Jesus and be able to stand in the class of salvation.

2) The work of bearing suffering and sin

Romans 6:23 says, “The wages of sin is death.” The sinner deserves to die. Of course we must die. Nevertheless, why do we say that we have life? How did we get life? It is the merits of Jesus Christ. It is recorded in the book of Isaiah.

Isaiah 53:5 says, “He was pierced for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and with his wounds we are healed.”

We have life because Jesus died on the cross for us. Because Jesus died for us, we who should have died will not die, but will live. This is because Jesus bore our sins. He came from the place where he cried out Eli, Eli, Lama, Sabachthani, on the cross, to the position of the substitute.

Anyone who believes that Jesus died for my sins will be saved.

II. how

Then how could Jesus accomplish such a great work? It is through faith in God that he was able to accomplish this great work.

Jesus cannot do these things without faith in God. We can clearly find it in the words of prayer in Gethsemane. “Father, let it be done” is something that cannot be said without clear faith. It is only a confession of faith that comes from deep dependence on God.

Not only that, while experiencing the agony of the abyss as if being cut off from God on the cross, can I pray that I entrust my soul into the Father's hands, deeply believing that there is no one who can save me but God?

I hope that whatever we do, we will live our lives in faith in God. Please welcome today with deep faith that God is the God who gives better things, not the bad ones.

. It is a call that has accomplished its mission.

Even when Jesus died at the age of 30 or so, he shouted a cry of victory that he had accomplished everything he had to do. Jesus completed all the work he was sent to do in the world. That is, all prophecies were fulfilled. Matthew 5:17 says, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I did not come to abolish it, but to complete it.” It was Jesus who perfected and perfected it.

In the presence of Jesus, who has fulfilled his mission, I hope that you will lead a life of praying that we will accomplish what we need to accomplish. I hope you will fulfill all the missions you have been given.

conclusion

I hope that you will meditate deeply on what you have to do on this earth, what you have to do in the church you serve, and what you have to do in this society in which you live, and by doing it, you will be praised as a good and faithful servant.
