Job 33:13-18 dream
A normal person sleeps. And when you sleep, you often have dreams. There is probably no one who has never dreamed of being here today. During counseling, there are often people who ask for interpretation of dreams. Today, I am going to give you a biblical answer to a dream that many people are interested in. The Bible devotes quite a lot to dreams. In particular, we often see God's revelations being revealed to specific people through dreams. Perhaps the Bible would not have been fully fulfilled if we had taken out the revelation of dreams from the Bible. There are many stories about dreams that appear in the Bible.
"Why does God use dreams so often to express His will?" Today's text says: “God does not state all that He does. Why are you arguing with God? In other words, God has absolute sovereignty when revealing His will, and since human wisdom and knowledge are far lacking compared to God, he does not directly argue with us, but often teaches lessons as if sealed with angels, prophecies, visions, and dreams. that you are doing
Especially in the last days, God will pour out the Holy Spirit on many people, so they will see visions, prophesy, and have dreams. Therefore, perhaps it is natural for those who have been filled with the grace of the Holy Spirit to dream prophecies, visions, and dreams. However, it is good to interpret such prophecies, visions, and dreams correctly and apply them correctly, but misinterpreting and applying them incorrectly can actually harm your life of faith. It is just like even if you believe in God with the same Bible, you become heretical and become orthodox according to your interpretation.
In other words, how we interpret and apply dreams, prophecies, visions, and revelations is very important. Today, we want to find the correct biblical answer to our dreams and to apply the dream correctly so that we can gain great vitality in our religious life and have an opportunity to move forward on the right path of faith. First, historically, it is a case of obtaining beneficial results through dreams. It is said that a man named Elias Hohe, who completed the sewing machine, got the idea through a dream. And literary writers we know well, such as Tolstoy, Edgar Allan Poe, Voltaire, Dante, Shelley, and Stevenson, have stood with the subject matter of their dreams. In addition, musicians such as Mozart, Schumann, and Saint-Saint were inspired by their dreams to work. If we look at the dream in the Bible in more detail, it is as follows.
1. A dream that you think is good
Abraham, who is also called the father of faith and the father of the nation of Israel, heard the voice of God in a dream. Hearing the voice of God's promise of blessing that appeared in his dream, he was able to leave his homeland and emigrate to the foreign land of Canaan. And Isaac, Abraham's son, also heard the voice of God's blessing in a dream. "Do not be afraid. I am with you and I will bless you and multiply your descendants." (Genesis 26:24)
Also known as Jacob, whose name was later changed to Israel, while running away from his brother who was trying to kill him, he slept on a stone pillow in the wilderness of Beersheba and had a dream. In my dream, I saw a long ladder connecting heaven and earth, and angels were moving up and down the ladder. And the voice of God was heard from above. “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will never leave you” (Genesis 28:15).
And there are people who cannot be left out when we dream. Joseph was always teased by his brothers for being a 'dreamer'. He interprets dreams so well that he became prime minister of Egypt. And there is also a man who interprets dreams well and becomes prime minister of Babylon. Daniel is a man. He is a person who has been prophesied about the things that will happen in the last days through the revelation of a dream.
In the New Testament, Joseph, the physical father of Jesus, heard that his fiancee, Mary, was pregnant before they even lived with him, so he quietly tried to break up with her. However, an angel appeared in a dream and it was through the Holy Spirit that Mary was pregnant and instructed to bring her home, so Christmas, the birth of Jesus, is possible. And he was able to escape to Egypt to escape Herod the Great, who was trying to kill the baby Jesus by receiving a dream revelation.
As we have seen above, a good dream is meeting God in a dream, hearing God's voice, having courage, and effectively preaching the gospel and fulfilling God's will. I hope you all have such good dreams as well. And there are symbolic good dreams. To dream of receiving a Bible, to receive a golden key, to see flowers and fruits in full bloom in a dream, to see a cross or light in a dream, to eat delicious food in a dream are good dreams.
In my case, I ate chicken in a dream. But that day, in real life, my sister bought chicken. While eating that chicken, he said, "Uh- I ate chicken in my dream... Ah- God is delivering chicken to me to eat! Lord, thank you. Hallelujah!" And the chicken was delicious.
And in Revelation 3:20, the Lord says, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and sup with him, and he with me." I was able to savor it and say a prayer of thanks again and again. The joy of eating delicious food with the Lord is more fulfilling than just the joy of eating delicious food.
When you have a symbolic dream like this, you can gain faith through the dream, receive a title of thanks, and gain the joy of walking with the Lord. But how do we deal with such a good dream? In 1 Corinthians 14:26, we see how to deal with all spiritual gifts when they come. The words are: “Do all things for edification.”
In other words, it is good to tell the dream when it is judged that telling it to others gives courage and edification of the church. However, it is better not to talk about the dream if the other person's heart is hardened and you are not a great person to receive the dream. In the Bible, the Lord said this. “Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw pearls before pigs” (Matthew 7:6). Proverbs 23:9 says something similar. "Do not speak in the ear of a fool, for he will despise your wise words."
And even if it is a good dream, there are dreams that make others envious and jealous when they hear it. Even in such a case, it is better not to speak by keeping your lips. Such is the case with Joseph. Joseph had a dream that he would become a greater person than his brothers, and he told the dream to his brothers. Then the Bible testifies that his brothers hated him even more. (Genesis 37:5) Therefore, we should use such good dreams as pure as doves and wisely as snakes to keep our faith and build up the church.
2. Dreams that are considered bad
People around the world say that dreams of dragons and pigs are good. However, biblically the dragon symbolizes Satan. Pigs, frogs, maggots, and various insects also symbolize demons. But the sheep symbolizes the saints, and the dove symbolizes the Holy Spirit. And the black object symbolizes the power of Satan. It is also not good to see dead ancestors who did not believe in Jesus appear in dreams.
What do you do when you have these bad dreams? You must realize God's will to resist and cast out Satan who appeared in that dream, and you must immediately get up and pray to defeat it. If you don't pray against your dreams, you can come to reality according to your bad dreams. Someone has a dream, and his child carries a portrait of himself. What is your dream? death to yourself
It is a dream of power. In this case, the forces of death must be defeated immediately.
One day, King Pharaoh of Egypt had a dream. Seven fat cows and seven heads of grain came up from the River Nile, followed by seven cows and seven heads of skinny ears from the River Nile. What does it mean? It means that seven years of plenty will come, followed by seven years of famine. Joseph, who understood this well and responded to it, became Egypt's prime minister and was able to rescue Egypt, the whole Palestine, and his family from famine.
And if you dream that you are moving into a very small, shabby house, that you are wearing rags, that there are no side dishes on the table, that a rat goes in and out of the house, or that your refrigerator is empty, it means that poverty can take advantage of it. Warning. It must also be defeated. And I have a very bad dream, which I think is good for me. For example:
Someone's husband died prematurely. However, it is said that the dead husband appears in the wife's dream and is living the same sex life as when she was alive. It is said that if children wake up, they hate it so much that they want to kill them. And it is said that when you wake up from a dream, your body is always throbbing and there is no vitality in your life. This is a very bad dream in which Satan appears in a dream as her husband and tries to destroy her life. We must fight in the name of Jesus.
When I was in the youth group, a sister from my district came to me and talked to me. Satan appeared in his dream and cursed him, so maybe it was good. The dream made her worry and even fear. At that time, I found a verse that I was talking about. Proverbs 26:2. “A curse without cause does not come as a flying sparrow or a swallow flying away.” There is no need to be afraid to see something scary in a dream. We are already blessed in the name of Jesus. Therefore, it does not work for anyone to curse us.
3. Just a dream that you think it is
In the world's words, it's a dog dream. I don't know what it means and I can't even remember what it means. In particular, people who do not believe in God and pray often have such a dream. Therefore, Ecclesiastes 5:7 says: "Many dreams are vain; but you must fear God." However, there are some dreams of a person who is filled with the Holy Spirit and prays in detail at all times, but the interpretation of the dream will be given later even if he cannot remember it right away. Therefore, it is a good gift from God to have the wisdom to remember and interpret dreams as well as Daniel and Joseph.
There are stories of dreams like this in the Bible. The wife of Pilate, the Roman governor, had a dream that gave Jesus to be crucified. I struggled a lot because of a person named Jesus in my dream. So I advised my husband Pilate not to let the sun come on that man named Jesus. But Pilate ignored the wife's dream. In the end, Jesus gave up on the cross.
Dear brothers and sisters, God sometimes breaks people's pride through dreams. Also, through dreams, God's guidance and answers to prayers are given. And the purpose of the dream is to serve God better. To edify the church through a dream or a gift. Conclusion. We often dream. At this time, I pray in the name of the Lord that you may benefit from that dream and develop into a beautiful image that serves God better.
