dream story

1 Kings 3:4-15

The proportion of time occupied by dreams in our lives is by no means large. However, the impact of dreams on the whole life is enormous. What is your dream? What good dreams do you have? Solomon in today's text had a very good dream. I saw God in a dream, and I heard a voice from God saying, ‘Ask of me (deceive) what I will give you.’ Along with Jacob's dream in Genesis 28 and Joseph's dream in Genesis 32, this dream is one of the best dreams in the Bible. Also, even in his dreams, he prayed for good things that were pleasing to God. So, did you receive the wisdom you asked for from God, and did you receive the blessings of wealth, glory, and longevity as a gift? How could I have such a wonderful dream? Today, we would like to share the wisdom of faith that will help us have good dreams through the story of Solomon's dream. To have such a good dream

1. You must be a worshiper.

The place where Solomon had this good dream was Gibeon, a place of worship. He offered a thousand burnt offerings. He was a worshiper who went into God's presence every day, repented of his sins and weaknesses, and sought God's mercy. He was a worshiper standing in the presence of God anytime, anywhere by offering a thousand burnt offerings - worshiping for about three years. Worshipers have good dreams. God is the one who gives good wishes in the hearts of worshipers and guides and helps them to come true. Worshipers can dream and see visions in those dreams. Worshipers are participating in God's promises. In order to dream and to make our dreams come true, we must make our living space, our bed, and our table a place of worship where God is present and glorified.

2. He was a man of community mission.

Solomon was among God's chosen people(8) and wanted to make peace by discerning good and evil among them(9), but he was weak like a child and had no discernment(7), and he prayed for wisdom to carry out his mission.( 9) The Bible tells us that Solomon's prayer was a prayer that was in accordance with God's heart.(10) Who is a person who is fit for God's heart, and what kind of prayer is appropriate for God? It means realizing a community mission and wishing to have a good influence on others. The phrase “one person of faith” has no meaning. A Christian is a person who lives in relationship with God and with neighbors. Solomon had a sense of community mission, so he was worthy of God even in his dreams.

3. He was a person who held dreams as hopes.

Verse 15 says, “Solomon awoke and saw a dream.” Perhaps a person without faith would have said, 'Ah, it was a dream. But Solomon, a man of faith, made dreams his hope. Although it was a dream, I accepted God's promises and blessings as a reality. They gave thanks and gave a feast to the servants. Like the chorus of Hymn 542, it is faith that we can thank in advance for the great grace we will receive. Have faith. Even if you are still weak and foolish at present, hope that you will enjoy a good change through the grace of Jesus Christ. Have a dream. Put that dream on God. So, I hope that you will become the protagonist of a dream-like life where dreams come true.
