Title Ebenezer God (1 Samuel 07:12-14)
Contents The name of the land Ebenezer is recorded in the second half of verse 12 of God's Word that we read today. The name of this land was given by Samuel to commemorate the fact that the Lord “helped us up to this point”. Ebenezer, the name of the province where this monument stands, is recorded in 1 Samuel 4:1 that the army of Isgokel Botin encamped in a place called Ebenezer, and in 1 Samuel 5:1, the place where the Israelites captured the ark of God by the Philistines. Judging from the record of Ebenezer, Ebenezer here is the name of a stone to commemorate the victory, or the name of a province that God helped.
2. Results of Ebenezer (1) The enemy Philistines surrendered. Verse 13 says, “Then the Philistines gave in, and they could no longer enter the territory of Israel.” This is not because Israel is strong, not because they fight well. Because God helped and conquered them. (2) The stolen land was restored. Verse 14 says, “The city that the Philistines had taken from Israel was restored to Israel from Ekron to Gath.” We must seek God's help to expand our territory and push the enemy away so that we can reclaim our lost faith and lost land. (3) He said that he found and enjoyed peace. Verse 14 says, “There was peace between Israel and the Amorites.” True peace can be found in Israel, which was insecure and painful because of the war,
